C Capn Beefhart Audiophyte Feb 29, 2020 3 0 1 47 Feb 29, 2020 #1 I recently bought a Yamaha 7850 receiver and upon receiving it i hooked all of my speakers up and had all of them working. While listening to music the receiver all of the sudden just kicked off after about 5 min. When trying to turn it back on it clicks then immediately turns off with the display never lighting up. If you hold the tone control button and info button at the same time while pressing main zone power it will come on. But the zone 2 indication is lit up and the sleep light keeps blinking on the display. You can cycle through the display presets AV1 AV2 ect however you cannot switch back to main zone nor can you use the remote to enter the set up on the tv. I have tried the soft reset and reseting to factory settings using the straight button and pressing power. Nothing has worked so far to bring it back into the main power mode and function as normal. I have checked all of my speaker connections and none were lose nor were the frayed to cause a short. Has the protection circuit been tripped and is there anything i can do to reset without having to send it back to factory for repairs? If anyone has run into this problem or experienced something similar any i put would be appreciated. Thank you!

C Capn Beefhart Audiophyte Feb 29, 2020 3 0 1 47 Feb 29, 2020 #3 The surround is a 5.1 set up and the speakers are an admittedly old set model number RCA RT-2380BK 6ohms the sub is a klipsch R-100sw. I set the receiver to the 6ohms setting before setting up per the owners manual.

It may just have been defective, I'd return it. If you can't fix with resets not much you can do.
