let's see you say that when you're counting the days to the 665 knowing the 663 is available now! :)

yahoo widgets has some countdown widgets if you want to see them on your desktop :D
I've been comparing the two on the website. And I can't help but notice that the 663 has two outlets and the 665 has zero, plus the 663 has a DTS light to indicate DTS decoding and the 665 does not. So I'm wondering if the 665 can decode DTS, and if if can, there is no indicator on the matrix showing it...

What outlet are you talking about?

Why do you need a light telling you that you are getting DTS decoded?

Yes, you can still buy them and they will ship in the order in which orders are received. When we sell out, we take backorders just like any other internet store.

Your order did come in right after we sold out of these. We have dozens of these on order from Yamaha - and were expecting more last week but they have not shipped and we currently have no ETA on when we will get them. We do not drop-ship any Yamaha products - they ship from our Michigan warehouse. We do our best to maintain inventory status on the site, but as others have mentioned it can be extremely difficult to keep this updated in real-time.

As far as your order is concerned, we can offer you a few options for the inconvenience that this delay has created: 1. a free upgrade to the RX-V663 (in stock) or RX-V665 (not yet released, ETA is currently early April). 2. a refund in the meantime, and charge your card when the RX-V565 you ordered is ready to ship, along with a free YDS-11SL iPod dock. 3. a full refund if you would rather cancel the order.

I think that you will find we are the most accomodating store in the industry, and will always offer a free shipping or product upgrade when we feel we have made a mistake.
Can I order one and get a free upgrade?:D JK Actually that's an insane deal. I suggest you get the RX-V665 and wait with anticipation.;)

I can't say I'm surprised these guys are very honest hard working folks. Didn't I tell you this was a blessing in disguise.

Yes you did... ;)

Reading on other forums and people are concerned about the weight difference between the two. 665 is 18 Lbs, and the 663 is 26 Lbs... what did they do with the other 8 Lbs??

With that much difference I would go to the 663

8 lbs is a lot of amp that could be missing. You can always get a hdmi switch from monoprice.com for very cheap.

Go ahead and get the 663. From what I can tell it's a better receiver. It will have a tad more power reserve.

Both are superior to your original selection. You really got blessed man.

Weight isn't really a good judge of amplifier quality.

My peerless industries wall mount will not handle a 26 Lbs load. It can only handle MAX 20lbs per shelf. So I'm leaning to the 665..since its only 18.7 lbs

But if the receiver does what I need, why look at obsolete s-video functions. Yes, 8lbs is alot of weight, but the 665 lost alot of the older tech not used in today's components, one being s-video. Granted its better than composite, but composite is more used today than s-video. DVD players have Composite and component and some have HDMI that does upconverting. Loosing the s-video function is not going to make me loose sleep over. I would rather take advantage of component and or HDMI. I can't imagine Yamaha making the 665 a POS. the 663 was the number one receiver for 2008, I'm sure they want the same for 2009. Technology has moved in leaps and bounds. I'm sure audio amplification has as well. Ever think that the 8lbs weight loss is due to the fact they're trying to become more green and power requirement conscious? 270watts consumption is awesome. They're able to achieve almost the same power output with less draw at the outlet. Sounds to me to be a very efficient power supply. The maximum power consumption for the 663 is 850 Watts...the 665 is 490 Watts...to achieve only 5 watts less per channel... Not to shabby! This my friend is a green amplifier!!

I doubt the difference in wattage would be audible even if it is less. And not enough to make a huge difference. Either way you will have a nice receiver.

Color.......;)
Now you have me wondering why most receivers aren't available in colors other than black or silver (in the U.S.). Why not blue? Or red? Sure, sure...demand. I get it. But, wouldn't you fellas have an easier time selling your wives who don't care about electronics on a receiver that looks nice and is stylish?

"We don't need a receiver."

"It's pink."

"Ewww. Get two."
