Family's been here longer than yours....and drumph is scum. Absolute scum. Sorry to see you support such an anti-American as he is. He's a grifter, a prolific liar, a misogynist, a racist, and a relative failure (among many negative character traits). Beyond me how anyone can support him. Maybe you should go back to where you come from....
Gotta love his diction, huh? :D

This is definitely true.
When I went to Germany I would ask in English "Do you speak English?" and almost invariably got a response of "No".
So I would engage them in German (had 3 years in high school, so could communicate most straightforward concepts). About 90% of the time, they would end up shifting the language back to English!
Most Germans have a better understanding of English that 3 years of study in a US high school. I expect the ones that do not shift to English were just individuals who had a low aptitude for languages.
But certainly I saw their response (if speaking to a man on the street for directions, etc) go from annoyance to civility when I started speaking half-assed German!
Wish I could say the same thing for the French in Paris.

The owner of the cafe which we just walked into, my Italian cousin and I, pretended not to understand Italian, or English for that matter, when we clearly heard him talking to someone in Italian on the phone. Until my cousin started to curse him out in Italian. :D His proficiency in the Italian language suddenly returned to him as we walked out of the place.

Testa de mincha! (weiner-head for those in need of a Sicilian translator)

I don't like dicks (or in his case wannabe dictators)....and I do like to have clear diction when expressing my opinion on this small dicked wonder.
You gonna get this guy in trouble with Admiral Igor Olegovich Kostyukov. :p

Feel free to look up the name.

I do agree that guy is A ego maniac and a egotistical self righteous asshole.
But he’s not a politician and he’s done what a lot of politicians ... would not do.
If you are talking about 210,000 deaths so far, I agree, most politicians would be too concerned about their actual performance than to throw us into the greatest number of deaths per capita among developed countries. Trump, instead, is betting he can spin things enough to obscure the truth of his abysmal legacy!
I am by no means a fan of career politicians, and would love to see a good person from outside be the president, but Trump entered the White House playing a brand of "you're with me, or you're the enemy" politics that is worse than plain-vanilla DC politics!
You recognize that he is an egomaniac, yet somehow, miss that he is such an egomaniac that he puts his election effort ahead of the health of the US populace!
How can you possibly square that we have better than 20% of the covid cases (and deaths) but only 4% of the population of the world?

Because he doesn't care or someone is telling him to say so?

Let alone the 9th highest death rate by country. I know drumphy wants to be number one in the polls, but....

I'd rather give Carl the chance to answer because I am interested in understanding his side!
I think Trump's base is interested in the welfare of our country and we all have that in common.
I'm trying to understand how they don't see that Trump is willing to sell-out the country as long as he ends up better off in the end. Fortunately (for the country) Trump has over-reached his ability to convince the population that Covid is inconsequential, especially now that several major republican figures have been effected by it!

That is the observed case-fatality ratio. We have pretty good in-hospital care, so I expect us to do well at the hospital level despite trump.
I am talking Death per capita, where only 5 countries are worse!

The first chart here allows you to toggle between these two statistics:

Ah, I see what is happening. The chart from John Hopkins specifies "most effected countries". I would interpret that to mean the worst performing countries. However if you scroll down the JH link, that also have a listing that you can sort by criteria (such as per capita).
It also includes tiny countries like Andorra and San Marino with a total of 53 and 42 deaths, respectively, but, because they are so small they still have a higher per capita rate than the US! We are number 10 on that chart today!

Any way you look at it, our performance should be on par with Canada and certainly, significantly better than Mexico, but we aren't even close to Canada and a little bit worse than Mexico!

And some Republican members of Congress as well, not to speak of President Trump that has some HUUUGE personal loans coming due the next four years or so, according to IRS records released reported by NY Times. Probably FAKE NEWS!

At one time I would have agreed with you KEW but when common sense and facts can’t sway a person, then what?

You could be just pissing in the wind. Just sayin’

I’ve enjoyed world history, US and foreign domestic & international policies and politics itself since I was a young kid and debating about it. You can learn a lot by exchanging ideas with people of different socio-economic backgrounds, race, and sexual orientation. My world-view has changed since then, after talking & reading various books and whatnot, challenging those views, and talking with those folks. That’s’ why I changed my party affiliation to Independent in my mid-30’s.

But somewhere along the line, when people like Morton Downey, Jr. and Rush Limbaugh came along in the late 80’s and joined the fray, the conversation became coarser and all about who could scream the loudest with feigned outrage and imaginary facts plucked from god knows where. The strain of anti-intellectualism and anti-science in this country has alarmingly come to the fore and shows no sign of abating, especially with the internet egging them on.

I believe in a difference of opinion and your right to do so but not in the facts that can be proven or documented. I may not even like them myself but the truth is the truth and nothing can change that.

Look no further nowadays than when during a conversation someone say’s they ‘heard’ someone say such and such, about science for example, and when pressed for proof blubber on about some utter nonsense.

Why? … because they have no proof whatsoever and are grasping at straws.

How many of you on here that are say crap about Trump, live in the USA ?
For me, living here in the US. My Financial life and stability is the best it’s been since the 70s. I do agree that guy is A ego maniac and a egotistical self righteous asshole. But he’s not a politician and he’s done what a lot of politicians have promised to do and could not do or would not do. So I’ll just leave it at that , so unless you have first-hand experience with being here in the United States and reaping the benefits that he is helped us achieve, then I suggest keep the comments to yourself
Both of my parents are immigrants and came here in the late 50s early 60s. At that time when you moved here from a different country you were coming here for a much better life and to live like an American. Not coming here from a different country and trying to turn it into the country that you left. If you love your country so much you should not of left it in the first place. I’m all for being a part and keeping your heritage alive, but when you move to a different country you need to embrace that country that you go to employ the reasons that you went to it for

Our country is in the greatest turmoil since the 60's and maybe worse. So you must make more than 250k a year to be benefitting from any of his tax cuts and you surely don't work in any kind of service industry. He is scum plain and simple. He is not a business man and he is doing his best to be another Putin and hold on to his power. Wake the F up.

A lot of people (like me) who were born and raised here just don't care for Trump. Some of it is based on his policies, some of it is based on his personality.

I know quite a few people who were born in other countries who are Trump supporters. Some of it is based on his policies, some of it is based on his personality.

It's not Trump verses the world. This is a democracy. As Americans we are allowed to like or dislike him. We also have freedom to speak our minds.

Sorry, but he is a politician under any reasonable definition of the term.

Sorry, but he [Trump, my additiom] is a politician under any reasonable definition of the term.
Autocrats love to claim that they are not a politician, but just offer their service to drain the swamp. Go no further than to current East Europe with the rise of ill-liberal democracies (i.e. fascists) dismantling democracy, with Trump support.

While Western Europe has, generally, been fairly successful at keeping the far right at bay, yet again Trump administration support them and increases their influence and harming our democracy.

Then you have posters, like the one you replied to, saying that we (foreigners) should keep silent? That dumb cünt could follow his own advice.
