Here is what Bit Mapping is for the PS3:

Off Disable bitmapping.
Type 1 Use a technique called dithering to reduce noise or distortion produced during audio output.
Type 2 Use a technique called noise shaving to reduce noise in the audible range.
Type 3 Use a technique developed specifically for the PS3™ system to enhance audio playback.

I have tried a few other cds now and they sound great. I think my favorite band is very bright, and Im not used to having good speakers that reveal this.

There are settings when Im using the analog outs:

1) Output frequency
A) 48khz or B) 44.1/88.2/176.4 khz

Which should I be using?
That's what I use.

2) Bit Mapping Type 1 or 1 or 3 ?

Which should I be using?
I use the default setting, 1, I think. I doubt it matters much but why not try each one and see which one sounds best for you?

Thanks for the input, after listening to a variety of cds all night I love the sound. My favorite band is just very bright and lots of high pitched sounds...

I heard a new cd and LOVED the sound and I now have no complaints. My speakers were revealing some of the issues in the recording of one of my favorite cds.

Nonone did answer my question:

1) Output frequency on the PS3...
A) 48khz or B) 44.1/88.2/176.4 khz

Which should I be using for analog cd playback?
Thanks
:)

Thanks, I did use that setting and found the sound much better, but it is hard to know for sure without blind tests...

Does anyone know what the 48khz setting is to be used for?

:)
