I also suspect that the A3070 would work fine, but I can't blame you (if you have the money) to over-buy just to make it a "non-issue"!
Another thought is to get a couple of Outlaw monoblocks for $400 each to use for your R & L (and maybe a 3rd for your Center). That gets you 200W into 8 ohms or 300 into 4 ohm.
Then let the A3070 handle the balance! It is kind of a shame to totally waste the amps in the AVR since you have them!

Yea, I'm listening to 5 channel SACD's so wouldn't that be 5 channels driven? The music plays out of all the channels, and also movies in surround.

I have a 5 channel system from Salk on order currently. So after I get those, I will be set with speakers, so I'm seeing what would be the best amp to match with those speakers.
Not particularly as far as the surround content goes in most cases in terms of "ACD" spec. What specific discs?

Yea, I'm thinking the 3070 is probably fine, I don't have a huge room either. Anything else is probably overkill for my room, and I have upstairs neighbors so I can't blast it super loud. I mostly wanted to have a class A/B amp, but it sounds like the 3070 is A/B so that's good. I used to have a old Onkyo Pro Logic receiver from the 90's that sounded better than the 8 year old mid range Onkyo I have now, since that one has class D amps.

The outlaw monoblocks you mentioned might be a good option, if I really want to upgrade later, or the Monolith amps.

Yeah, Kew's suggestion is something a lot of folks do. Offload the front 2 (or 3) to an external amp and let the receiver handle surround duties. A good 2 channel amp or the monoblocks @KEW suggested are a nice solution and you're not letting the amp section of your receiver go to waste!
