I would only put a sub on a power strip. I just don't know about PC on a sub line. I'm not sure how well it would handle the power. But that being said. APC is the best brand of Power Strips, UPS's, and Power Conditioner IMO.

I don't know if it's practical for you, but I unplug my sub after every use.
We watch about two movies a week, and that's the only time it's plugged in.
Though I do have it on it's own 20-amp circuit.

Is good enough IMO. If your sub can pull more than 15 amps you will need to isolate on a plug. And you can't power strip it with those options.

15 amps will blow the surge protection on the APC units.

Use the other 100 on something else.

the correct advice

64met,

You seem to be getting some bad advice.

I am not sure what Outlaw sub you have but let's assume it is the LFM-1 EX. The rating of that is 350WRMS; 1300W peak

You said you are looking for surge protection as well as power conditioning. The APC H-15 was on sale for $149 and can handle 1500 kva which would easily handle the peak as well as the RMS power.

you could have other devices on a power conditioner as long as you correctly add up your total KVA requirements. However a LFM-1Ex Outlaw sub might be all you want on a power conditioner.

However, if you are just looking for surge protection ,then the cost would be significantly less. To be fully protected from a large electrical storm power hit or a brown out surge look for one that is rated at 5000 Joules or higher. However, if you hacve power fluctuation then you would need the voltage regulation in addtion to surge protection.

Good Luck!

Do yourself a favor and pick up the H15.

I have the subs on my BP7001sc's hooked up to a Tripplite Isobar Ultra that is also hooked up to a Tripplite Voltage regulator. My SVS NSD12/2 is also hooked up the same way on the opposite end of the room.

The DCM converted sub in my master bedroom setup is just hooked up to a Tripplite Voltage regulator and works just fine. The reason I hooked up the speakers to the surge protector was to get rid of a ground loop problem, and the SVS in the back is hooked up to a VR and surge protector because I also have my rear back channels hooked up to an Adcom amp and also to get rid of a ground loop problems. I have often found the easiest solution to getting rid of ground loops is to add a surge protector, because for some reason ground loop isolators always increase the volume of the 60Hz hum on my speakers instead of killing it, but surge protectors take it all away.

I may be anal about it but I have all three of my systems hooked up to many, many voltage regulators and surge protectors because electricity in AZ during summertime is the worst.

Yes; I thought of this... prob is my sub is behind my fake wall (behind my screen) Can't get back there unless I remove the "cut outs" every time.
(Too long of an explanation)... Thxs!!

Oh well, it was worth a shot.
Nothing protects like being unplugged.

I'm just trying to save him money from an unnecessary expense IMO.

And the strip recommended comes with insurance against lightening and power surges for life as do all APC products.

I'm pretty sure I said what you said already, but perhaps with a different wording. ;)

Some subs are too powerful for a PC or a Power Strip. Some can pull up to 20 amps which would pop the protection circuit in a 15 amp system.
