Possible replavement of Orb speakers up front

I have an Orb Mod 2 speaker system (FR, C, FL, RR, RC, RL) + a sub (not Orb). I was thinking of replacing just the FR and FL with something with more kick.

I love the system but just want a little more punch.

It has been a while since I researched speakers and was hoping for some advice/thoughts.

Also, is is possible to "connect" the Orb FR, Center, and FL to make one 6-Orb Center speaker or would the ohms be an issue?

Thank you,

I happen to live a couple of miles from the Aperion headquarters in Oregon, and have spent some time in their demo room. I think the 633-Ts are a very fine speaker. I probably would have bought a pair but ultimately I decided to go bookshelves instead, and ended up with Onix Reference 1s.

Anyway, I'm quite certain the 633-Ts will deliver plenty of punch, and sound (and look) great doing it.

Please post back about what the Orb folks tell you. Ironically enough, I'm giving up on good SQ in the entertainment system, and moving all the Refs into a newly designated listening room (an unused bedroom) and am considering Orbs for the family room HT. Much better WAF.

So, when you say the Orbs lack punch, what's the issue? Do they start to break up at higher volume levels? What kind of sub are you running? Any idea how loud they get before they distort? Which is to say, have you ever taken SPL readings using a rat shack meter?

I ended up getting the Beta's (see my other post for comments). The Orb's are great. I did not need new speakers, I just Wanted new speakers.:D

The Orb's play loud with ease. It is truly amazing how good they sound at such a small size.

I have an HSU sub.

Let me know if you go the Orb route. While I was considering adding my 6 Orb front speakers to my Orb surrounds, I would consider selling them.
