I have the the option of getting both the speaker sets i have a Yamaha Rx V1800 with either of the systems.

The price differece between the two speakers sets is about $300 Cdn plus taxes. This is the price of the upgrade and i dont know if it is worth the difference

I paid $1027+tax for POLK which i can take back. I can buy PSB for $1350+tax
what should i be doing? Please advise

I have auditoned both speakers you've listed as your mains and prefer the PSB's. The t45's are less foward and seem to have a more neutral feel for music and home theater. The polk's are slightly more forward in the upper frequencies and a little more bass because they use dual 6.5" drivers but the overall SQ of the PSB Image was better. IMO another factor is the PSB 5i subsonic which appears to be a decent performer and Polks subs are considered to be less than stellar.

So is the sound difference worth the price difference because i have gone over budget as is with the receiver :D and was hoping that this would be good enough but than again this is not a purchase i will make again anytime soon so the difference seems minuscule in the long run

Would love your opinion thanks

Ps do you think the prices i listed are a good deal the polk is 1027 plus tax
and the psb 1350 plus tax and got the yamaha rxv 1800 for 950 plus tax

In my opinion yes. I have the PSBT45s, the older image8c (now c40), the older image 1Bs (now B15s) and the older subsonic5 and I have this system for 3 three years now. I'm so pleased with them that I don't feel the need to upgrade any more unless I win a huge lottery. The only thing left for me to upgrade is the receiver. The Yamaha RXV1800 is a formiodable recevier in terms of power and will easily drive the PSB to deafening levels. Its also tricked out with tons of features that should keep you fairly current for the next few years anyway.

I've never cared for PSB but it's a well respected company with a large following.

I agree with the subwoofer comment at least, as the PSW505 isn't what I would suggest. I would suggest the DSW 500 since it's basically the direct replacement. The new line is finally something to not be embarrassed about when it comes to Polk subwoofers. Historically, they stink.

Either way, I'm sure you'll make a good decision....just don't buy the PSW505.
