LSiM703 - Bookshelf | Polk Audio®

Had a chance to listen to these... In one word: STUNNING!!! They retail for $1500 a pair, but Chicago dealers are selling them new at $960 for the pair.

They use a Vifa/Peerless 1" XT25 based tweeter and proprietary mid-range and mid-woofer drivers.

They feature a 1.25" MDF baffle, 1" MDF walls, high quality crossovers (air core inductors, poly capacitors, etc.), large radius rounded baffle edges, curved cabinet, slight machined wave guides on all drivers, high quality WBT style binding posts (bi-amp capability), machined aluminum rear plate, extreme cabinet bracing-dampening-deadening, and the list goes on!

Here are some measurements of their tower speaker, the upper half is IDENTICAL to the bookshelf: Polk LSiM707 Surround Speaker System HT Labs Measures | Home Theater

Just incredible performance. Horizontal off-axis response (power response) is silky smooth. The sound is three dimensional and breathtaking, with extremely low distortion (F2, F3, F4, F5).

This is a true 3-way bookshelf that's extremely well engineered and built. It's virtually IMPOSSIBLE for any 2-way bookshelf speakers on the market to compete, regardless of price.

My very favorite speaker manufacturer is Revel. I had all my eggs in one basket and was betting on their new (December 2012) Performa3 line to be the best there is, but now it's extremely unlikely. Revel will only have one serious bookshelf speaker ($2000 a pair) and it will be a 2-way (with SB Acoustics drivers). In no way will it be able to compete with Polk Audio.

Everything I've said holds true for Polk's towers and center channel speakers as well. Absolutely incredible products!

I now have two lines of all time favorite speakers, the Polk Audio LSiM and the Revel Performa2/3.

I challenge anyone on here to find me a better sounding/built/engineered/performing bookshelf speaker in the world, AT ANY COST!!!

ADMIN: Not sure about it being the best speaker in the world but read our Polk LSiM703 Review.

Man imagine how good they could be if they were THX certified!

I really love my polk speakers, and I think they don't get a lot of love around here based on brand name alone. Having said that..... obvious troll is obvious.

All joking aside, the Behringer is an excellent speaker! But even with a waveguide equipped tweeter, it does not have a perfect off-axis (power response) performance.

It either needs a smaller mid-woofer, or a full 3-way design.

No 2-way bookshelf speaker in the world can compete to a flawlessly engineered 3-way bookshelf speaker. It's just impossible...
I'm pretty sure Ridikas would be a good candidate to become a licensee of Pheonix Effect Distortion from Westlake Audio:D

The MBOW1 3-way is not a bookshelf speaker.

The Hiquphon OW1 tweeter is a joke compared to good quality 1" tweeters. A Vifa/Peerless XT25 would simply destroy it in every possible way at a fraction of the price ($30).

OW1: http://www.zaphaudio.com/tweetermishmash/Hiquphon_OW1-HD.gif
XT25: http://www.zaphaudio.com/tweetermishmash/Vifa_XT25SC50-HD.gif

The GR M130 woofers are a joke. Plastic frame. Cheap and archaic motor, with the simplest structure imaginable. No shorting rings. Waste of time...

Not a troll. Am I not allowed to review a speaker in the "LOUDSPEAKER" forum? Please point to that section of the Audioholics forum rules.

This is your review:
STUNNING!!!
Do you have any speakers to compare it to? You said you love Revel speakers, but never mentioned listening to any of them. You're making assumptions that somehow these Polks are going to be better than anything Revel releases. People think you are a troll because you're constantly making speculations. TOP 10 SUBWOOFERS IN THE WORLD!!!

I've heard ALL Revel speakers. Here are my favorite manufactures:

Revel (Infinity, JBL, etc.)
KEF
Dynaudio
PSB
Focal
B&W
Polk Audio
Klipsch (includes Jamo, Energy, etc.)
Paradigm
Sonus Faber

I've heard at least a sample from each line of each manufacturer above.

Everything is "The World's Greatest (fill in the blank)" or the "Top 5 (fill in the blank) in the World".

No substance in the original thread starter, but a lot of argumentative follow up posts.

The point of the original post was in a way a challenge! So bring it on everyone!!! Polk is the undisputed champ in the bookshelf speaker world. Unless of course someone, somewhere can dethrone it? :)

As i said, I really like my speakers but wouldn't be foolish enough to include them in any best of list. I haven't listened to even 5% of the speakers out there so it'd be absolutely ridikas (see what I did there?). Forum members who I respect wouldn't put together a top x list as it's so subjective, but all this guy does is make controversial posts for the sake of controversy.
