Are the ballots from sparsely populated area sent to major cities/towns and forwarded to regional tallying centers? Here in Mullarkey, Wisconsin, I can't remember the last time ballots were found post-election in a ditch, dumpster, someone's house or garage or other place where they shouldn't be. Last November, Milwaukee had a shortage of ballots at several voting locations.
I believe they are counted at each polling station, then the results are forwarded to Elections Canada. I don't think I've ever heard of election ballot boxes disappearing.

That ballot (a facsimile) is from Pierre Poilievre's riding. He is the leader of the Conservative party - and he actually lost his own seat!!

The reason there were so many names on this ballot is that it was part of an organized protest by a group who are campaigning for changes to the electoral system. Normally, a typical ballot would have four to perhaps eight names. The ballots for my riding had just four.
