My current setup is a 50 Toshiba DLP HDTV 720p accepts 1080i signal aswell. I have the Toshiba X-A1 HD-DVD Player. My speaker setup is 2 Onix x-ls fronts/ 2 x-ls surrounds/ 1 x-cs center and a powered MFW 15 inch SUB.

Now i'm trying to decide between these two recievers but can't come to a decision. I'm reading about all this upscaling other components via HDMI to 720p and 1080i but does that matter for me seeing all my movies will come from either my HD-DVD player and or my Upconvert DVD player?

My 2 choices are:

Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS

or

Yamaha RX-V1600

Please help in my decision. I currently own a HTIB so this is a big step for me and i'm not an expert. Keep in mind i basically want good sound for when i play movies thru my HD-DVD player.

Either would work great, I just got a very nice Yamaha and I am very pleased with the performance and features of the receiver.
