You really think that'll give HT quality bass, eh?
No, but it might make the speaker sound much better.
A great deal of dynamics are in the mid-bass up.

I suppose it depends on what what lifeless means...

I have heard the Focal Bookshelves in my house and they sounded damn good.
Not the same bass as my Salons but very lively when driven by the Outlaw M2200 mono-blocks.
They seemed to like the power.

To treat lifelessness sound, I recommend the following.

1. Bypass room correction (Audyssey), EQ, and DSP other than Stereo mode.
2. If you had a Denon or Marantz, I would suggest using Pure Direct 2.1 mode, but you don't. :D
3. If you don't already have nice subs, I highly recommend using 2 subs.

As I've said earlier, those Focal 826V are quite sensitive (91dB/2.83V/m). From a 3m (10ft) distance, you only need 11 watts per ch x 2ch to produce 95dB from 2 speakers combined. Adding subs will increase this total SPL from 95dB to about 105dB, which is damn loud to me.

Why would you suggest bypassing Audyssey? DSP modes, sure.

Again, why would complete bypass of room correction bring "life" back?

Agreed on that one.

If he used Audyssey and it caused the SQ to be "lifeless", then I recommend bypassing Audyssey.

If he used Audyssey and it sounded great, then keep using Audyssey.

Oh, ok. Well, your original post made it sound like Audyssey always makes things lifeless, which quite the opposite of the experiences I've had. But people perceive all sorts of things, thats why I asked.

I am still here, work has been very busy. I did forget to mention, I am running a sub, Think it is an older velodyne, It does a great job! The dull lifeless sound is when I am hearing a guitar solo I feel should stand out, or the snare drum, or solo's or all sorts that I feel should sound more dynamic, it all sounds the same, no dynamic WOW. I have tried to set the receiver up multiple ways, with the set up mic and bypassing it.

You may have some settings messed up. I suggest you reset the unit to factory defaults and go from there.
