This HK 247 pretty much is dying, it crackles when I change channels and a few months ago it sparked so I want something new anyways.

I am looking at the yamaha htr-6160 or the RXV663 from what I hear they are the same thing.....OR the onkyo 606......OR??? something in that price range.

Ive been looking on ebay and amazon and those both can be had for right at $350.

Are these gonna be better then my HK 247?

Here is my setup.
Polk rti8 fronts
polk csi3 center
polk fxia4 rears
valodyne sub..

I very very RARELY listen to music and watch tv and dvd/blu rays ALOT so I dont really care about music but movies i care about .

Any other info you can give me would be great thanks alot.

HK 254, Yamaha 663, Onkyo 606, Pioneer 1018. All good choices.

Harman's finally coming out with AVR's (e.g., the previously mentioned 254) that can decode the new high-res audio formats if you wait a month.

http://www.harmankardon.com/product_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=REC&prod=AVR 254&sType=C

However, you will spend more than $350 for it (about $100 more).

(I paid waaaay less than that for my HK AVR 247 at Fry's. Hopefully mine lasts longer than yours.)

Good luck.

No love for any of the Denon's like the AVR-788 (no high res audio decoding)?

Authorized dealers!

Be very aware that Yamaha and others will not honor warranty on units purchased from other than authorized dealers.

There are some authorized dealers who sell the RX-V663 for $350 delivered but not all offering it are authorized. PHONE Yamaha and confirm your dealer is authorized BEFORE buying.

jr.com and 6ave.com are examples of authorized dealers.
