I'm building a 26'x28' great room and want to put some rear/surround speakers in the back ceiling area. This ceiling area is sloped toward the seating position. The speakers I already have on hand are Def Techs BP2004's for R/L fronts, CLR 2002 center and a pr of BP-1X's. I understand the BP's are probably pretty good for the rear surrounds, but since I'd have to mount them on the back wall of the room (26' from TV), I think it'd be advisable to install something in the sloped ceiling, closer to (and aiming at) the sitting area. Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.

Are you planning to run a 5/7.1 setup? The BPXs are generally used for side-surround positioning (5/6/7.1), though they could also be used for rear-surround positioning in a large room 7.1 setup like yours. That said, I’d consider the DT UIW-64/A in-ceiling.

Thank you for your response.
I'm only planning for 5.1. Would it be silly to install something other than a pair of DT's? Say, Polk or Klipsch's?

I use Sonance inceilings for my surrounds and they sound really good. SpeakerCraft also makes some of the best inceilings on the market.

I'm using four Mirage Omnican 6 in-ceilings for side and rear surrounds.
VERY pleased with the sound.
