Playing metal music

Hi,
Can someone please direct me to some audio-system capable of playing metal music with good quality?
It is for living room. Will home theater be enough to play death or black metal?

Any competent audio system is blind to the content it plays, so whatever it reproduces should sound great no matter the genre. For metal, I would be looking at tower speakers just to make sure the dynamic range is sufficient. Look at Focal, Klipsch, Paradigm, MartinLogan, Revel, JBL, SVS, just to name a few manufacturers.

How loud, home theater loud or car stereo with tons of bass? Big difference, from the design standpoint.

Home theater loud is enough but bass should be decent
You need to be specific- 'decent' might be OK for some, but it's not close to what others want. I did car audio for a long time- 'a lot of bass' or 'decent' tells me nothing. Decent to some means "people can hear it two blocks away".

Decent not to that extent definitely
Audio output is measured and because that's objective and sound quality is SUBjective, the conflict between data and listening experience exists. Data can be used to guide someone, but it won't necessarily knock their socks off.

It's necessary to know more about what you're looking for. It's easy to say "With tons of power and big woofers....", but that still doesn't say anything about what you're looking for, overall. Live sound, very good car stereo sound, local club, etc are all different. Does the music you listen to have a lot of sub-bass, below the lowest notes of a bass guitar? If so, you need speakers that are designed for it- playing sub-bass through speakers that aren't designed for it is just going to sound bad and it will annoy you because they won't last long.

What speakers have you heard that really impressed you?

The music genre is not the best place to start when choosing a system. Speakers are by far the most critical decision, so start there. So how do you decide which speakers? Your room, distances to the listening position, desired dynamic range, linearity, power response are a few of the main considerations. Then you'll end up choosing speakers as adept at metal as they are with Bach concertos.

So, what's the room like? What sort of system? (Stereo, 2.1, multichannel?) Capable of big dynamics/high spl? How much so? Be specific, at least as much as possible.

Speaker choice will dictate amp requirements, and the rest will fall into place depending on your needs/desires for features.

The descriptor "home theater" isn't very descriptive. Some systems are more than capable, while some of the all-in-one-home-theater-in-a-box types are not very capable at all. The speakers will be the most important part as mentioned, with sufficient amplification for your use.

It is a living room. I am aiming for something in between 1200 - 1500 Euro.

I am thinking about all -in -one home theater type. Can you point me in direction of good systems? Budget is up to 1500 Euros. I'm not fan of loud listening

You won't get much value in an all-in-one prepackaged ht, and multi-use spaces like a living room seldom lend themselves to an elaborate multichannel system. You have specified a budget and that you're not a fan of loud listening. You're still well short on specifics. Help us help you, be more specific.

If sound quality is a consideration at all, you could do far better than an all-in-one solution by getting a good pair of speakers and something to drive them. That will eat up most of your budget. Add to it over time as budget allows. Don't waste money on substandard junk that won't fulfill your desires or be appropriate for your situation.

I agree for the most part, but we are all on a budget of some sort. At a given price point it seems to me that some speakers might be better for some applications.

For example, since you've heard both speakers (I have not), would you pick the Philharmonic BMR tower over the BMR HT tower for music, and visa-versa for HT? At $2,150 and $2,300 each, respectively, these are not identical in price so it might not be the best example

Given that most people would pair the BMR HT towers with subs for HT, this is probably an apples to oranges comparison.

If nothing else, it's an excuse to talk about Philharmonic speakers.

I would avoid the all-in-one systems. Not in europe so don't have a good idea on what is available to you particularly. Is the multich setup important for movies or something?
