Hi guys, just after a bit of advice,

I'm looking at getting an a/v receiver i have narrowed it down to either Denon AVR 2106 or Pioneer VSX 1015 i did also like the Cambridge AZUR 540 mk2.
My gut is telling me to go for the Denon but the Pioneer has heaps of good reviews.
I am running speakers from a HTIB that died, but will upgrade as budget allows, I will probably use for 60%/40% music/movies

any comments appreciated

Hi chris_v;
For the money both of these receivers do an excellent job on presentation of music and movies. Their feature set also isn't terribly different and they both should be quite capable of powering most speakers. I really don't think you can go wrong with either of these units, it may boil down to which do you prefer.

A couple of months ago I picked up a Denon AVR-886 (essentially the same as the 2106 but silver in color) for my secondary setup and it does an excellent job as far as I'm concerned. I'm running this in a mid-sized room (just over 2,000 cu. ft.) with a 5.1 system, two speakers in a separate room and another two speakers powered externally outside on my screened in porch. I really like the presentation and power the budget to mid-level receivers Denon offers and this receiver is no exception. I have read several positive feedback postings for the 1015 as well, so I'm sure this wouldn't disappoint, either.

Good luck on your choice, Chris, I think you'll be happy either way... :cool: -TD
