Pioneer SC-63 and My Sub

Long time lurker first time poster... Anyway I purchased the receiver a few weeks ago hooked up to my def tech 600 pro media speakers. Everythings ok but I have a large room and I upgraded (today) to paradigm floorstand monitor 11 and a center 3 Monitor Series 7. My sub was working with the old speakers but not with the new ones. I ran the MCACC it changed the fronts to large and now I have no sound from my Sub. Set them to small and the Sub works. The 11's are "large" but shouldn't they be set as that?

With the speakers set to large the receiver doesn't cross over to the subwoofer. Set like this the subwoofer will only play the LFE track (the .1 in 5.1) from multi channel sources, leaving the speakers to play all parts of the audio that is designated for them.

When you set them to small the receiver sends everything below a set frequency to the subwoofer. If you want to use the subwoofer with 2 channel sources, or give the mains a little bit of help with the bass you need to set the speakers to small (recommended) or turn on the "double bass" (I don't think that's what pioneer calls this option, but it will be something like that) option that will send bass to both the speakers set to large AND the subwoofer.

Hello SongBird, welcome to the forum.

Even though your monitor speakers are "large" they are not really full range. You should set them to small and put the crossover at 80hz. If you have a large room I don't think the def tech is really going to pressurize it. Be careful not to push it too hard or you may damage it. Take a look at SVS or HSU and start saving up for something that will fill the room and keep up with your other speakers. Congrats on your purchases.

Thank you for the quick responses. I have a XV15 Subwoofer on the way. Parts are holdup the order though. I can't wait to run a movie through this thing. Set to small my large living room is now filled with sound. Wow what a difference. I wish I would have saved and got these a long time ago. Thank you again you all are very helpful around here.

The enormous XV15 arrived today and WOW!!! I love it. My system is complete (for now). Any advice for setting up this monster? I'm tweaking the settings but I'm not sure what I'm doing. I want the most out of my system and I'm not afraid of playing with settings.
Edit:
I have done some reading in the prior to posting but some of those things in there are contradicting other info like setting the floor speakers to large and not small.
