Pioneer Andrew Jones SP-PK52FS review

If you're not convinced yet with the center, what do you think will convince you, nothing is going to change regardless of what Gene says. As far as the validity of how good the 52's are, if you followed some of us owner's of the 52's who think they sound very good, that alone should add some credence to the 52 being a great performance to price ratio product. My take on the performance of the phase two series Pioneers is how to they sound not knowing the price. Does that change one's perspective of a speaker's sound character? I would have to agree with you that the center could probably work with the 52's, a third tower IMO would be the way to go if you can swing it, placement wise, it's not an overly obtrusive cabinet, and should work both asthetically and sonically, this would be an awesome front stage presentation:) And as said you can get the 52 for the same $ as the C22, no brainer for me.
Cheers Jeff
Thanks for your reply!!.. As I said, I'm considering 3 fs52's because I thinks they would be an awesome front presentation. My main concern for the center is that my current room is what you would call a small room (12' long X 10' wide X 9' tall). The C22 center should work fine in that room. The thing is that all the wires are hidden on the wall - (which was a 2 weeks work) - I just hate to see any speaker wires!!!. If you walk into my HT room, you simply won't be able to see a single inch of wire on my setup. I also made a shelf, specially for the center - but that is easy to fix. The bad part is that I would also have to relocate both subwoofers and their cables (power & signal). I have one of the subs 1' under the center speaker and one directly on the back wall. On the other hand, I'm in the process of buying a new house which has a bigger room (about 18' long X 14' wide X 9' tall). I feel that the C22 center might come up "short" for a room that size. That is why I was considering a 3rd tower. Maybe I worry too much and I should just wait to see what Gene says before buying. I know he is testing them in a bigger room. That will answer my questions. Thanks again, bro and happy Xmas!!!

As a teenager in the year 2000 I saved all my earnings to get the super bang for buch entry level system of Logitech z5500 speakers, they lasted me more than 10 yearss until my miniature schnauzer destroyed the cones, cables, grills, remote, etc.

Tired of my horrible sounding speakers (cause i fixed all the cables and kept using them with the chewed cones) I did my research and in some awesome deals in Cyber Monday at Amazon I grabbed the complete Pioneer SP-PK22BS speakers by Andrew Jones, four SP-BS22 satelites, one SP-C22 center, one SW-8MK2 sub, an Onkyo TX-NR414 5.1 receiver for less than $550 free shipping to Puerto Rico. Bought 16 gauge oxygen free copper cables, hdmi's with ferrite cores, copper closed banana plugs, and rca cable for the sub from Monoprice. Everything arrived just 2 days later at 8PM and stayed until 3AM cleaning the old stuff and setting the new speakers with the appropiate receiver settings, speakers position, etc.

Next day spent couple of hours breaking in the speakers until it was time to see what this puppies can do. Started with the blu ray versions of Inception and Transformers 2, followed by internet radio from Pandora thx to the Onkyo internet radio features and listen to all ranges of music genres (i know that internet radio doesnt has the best quality in the world but i wanted to do a real world scenario of how this speakers sound with different types of sounds sources and qualities) from Drum and bass, Hard Rock, Dub step, Classical, symphonical, slow rock, instrumental, reggae, pop, Black, Death and good old Heavy metal, Trance, Piano concertos, opera, etc

Listened to talk shows on radio AM FM, CD's with my PS3 and satelaite TV both normal and HD.

I couldn't find any source or type of sound this speakers couldnt handle and they sounded awesome in every single test.

They sound so good that I'm finding myself listening at lower volumes than any other previous sound system I've encountered because all the frequencies are clear and in order to apreciate full range of sound you dont need to cranck the volume all the way, but of course I still love blasting the walls with action movies, gaming and music, but I fear my neighbors will kick me out of the house haha.

i really recommend this speakers, yes they arent a small cube, but they arent monstrous either, they fell of very good quality materials, they look good and best of all, sound like a $4,000 dolar system IMO.

The only thing im trying to figure out is a good stand for the rear speakers because the satelites dont have a screw hole for regular mounted speakers...

Any advice or suggestion on speaker stands for this speakers would be appreciated.

thx for listening to my story

Free shipping to Puerto Rico on Amazon????????... I thougth that Crutchfield was the only one offering that. I live here too!!!. I'll take a look at that ASAP!!!... I'm also thinking about buying new surrouds as well since I'm upgrading my fronts. For that price, my brother suggested me to use two C22 centers as surrounds. Two 4" woofers are better that a single 4". But I'm looking for bipole or dipole surrounds.

In the past, everything that said "Shipped by Amazon" was free to puerto rico, now you need to be a member of the Amazon Prime membership, and you need to look for things that said Amazon prime or shipped by Amazon to qualify for free shipping, as always there are some restriction of thing you cant ship to puerto rico mainly because of weird manufacturing policies that deny shipping here, but they will tell you before checkout if you can ship to Puerto Rico or not, eventhough the prime membership is $79 a year, it gives you unlimited free shipping to PR if it is shipped from Amazon and you can also get there on demand video service only as part of the package, but they always give you a free one month trial that I used, and you can cancel at any time before the month end and they will never charge you and the things you shipped are still free.

You can use every card you have and every email in order to have various free month trials but if you are someone like me that buys a lot from amazon then the membership is a great deal, if i would add the $79 of the membership to the total price of the speakers and receiver it still would have been a great price and they have very fast shipping here, no weight limit, ive ordered even personal gyms of over 200 pounds no problems.

Anyway good luck Y saludos desde Cupey Puerto Rico

According to Pioneer support, the C22 will not work well as mains or surround speakers, it was designed specifically for center channel duty. This is not my opinion, but Poneer's. I would try the C22 for now in your smaller place and see what you think, if they do not blend well, or do not have enough output for you send them back. Better yet just get the 52 for the center and BS22's for surrounds and I quarantee you that you will be happy.:) There is no magic built into the Pioneer stage two speakers, just good quality components well implemented into the design parameters.:) I think Gene will agree to a certain extent, figure in your cost and like I said this system is a no brainer for above entry level performance;)
Cheers Jeff

That was just a suggestion from my brother. I'm looking for some bipole or dipole surrounds. About the center, once I buy it, I won't be able to return it because it will be at Best Buy. I don't think they have that kind of return policy. I'm almost convinced to go with three 52's towers up front.

That's what I'm going to do. The most used speakers are the front 3 so why not make them the best you can? I think that will be a killer combo for the money.

it wouldn't matter if it might distract you from the fronts?
Surrounds are not likely going to distract you from the fronts. They are mostly used for ambient/enviroment sounds.

52's are 99$ each on:
Arrgh! Just purchased these 2 days ago from Best Buy for $125 each. I knew they occasionally went on sale for $100 each but I guess that's the price I pay for my impatience.

You can go back to best buy and get the difference if its within 30 days of your purchase.

If they are still $99 on Amazon when you go, you should be able to just point them towards the website. Also, see if they'll match the TOTAL price. So, if Amazon doesn't charge tax where you are, see if they'll match that.
