Hi guy's,
i just got a new receiver from bestbuy today, and i'm all done hooking it up etc.
But i can't do auto mcacc calibration, when it does it's thing i hear a click on the receiver and my center channel is highlighted yellow and a message saying "reverse phase on speaker". But i double check and double check the center speaker wiring and red is on red, black is on black!. What can it be? i'm lost

Every thing else seems to be ok as it only detected the center channel Gr

It is possible that the terminal on the speaker is wired wrong. Are you comfortable taking it apart?

Have you tried changing the phase and seeing if MCACC works?

No,i don't dare take it apart he he,but i haven't reverse the wire. Will it hurt the speaker if i do?. I still have the warranty.

@adwilk after i had lunch,i reverse the wire on the center and receiver, hit auto calibrate and it's working!. That's weird, glad i didn't have to drive back to best buy  Now,it's time to adjust every thing to my liking thanks for the help.

You are not done yet!

This issue keeps coming up.

Quite a few speakers with second order crossovers high and low pass, have to have the tweeter wired out of phase to avoid a null at crossover.

The auto cal programs recognize this as out of phase. They seem to focus on the tweeter for phasing rather than the woofer, probably for reasons of time delay.

Now you need to do a battery phase test.

Get a 1.5 volt battery. Now take a speaker lead to a main speaker and remove the grill. When you connect +ve lead to +ve battery terminal and neg to neg the bass cones will fly forward.

Now do the same to the center and see which way the cones fly. I bet they all fly forward. If the center flies back it is faulty.

If all cones fly forward then you need to connect them all normally, as otherwise you will have LF cancellation.

Auto Cal programs do not work with speakers that have to have a reversed phase driver to avoid a null.

i know right?. Every thing sounds okay. I pop in a bluray and dialog seems fine no distortion at all. Oh will,if it's not smoking or hear any thing popping i guess leave the wire the way it is? :)
i'm gonna give that a try,and i'll report back tomorrow. Should i have the receiver off for this?

You won't damage anything, but if the center woofers are out of phase with the main woofers, which I strongly suspect they now are, then that will significantly reduce your sound quality and not give you what you paid for! Out of phase woofers really compromises results.
