Sound is great, but the picture stinks. Lot of artifacts, jaggies and such. Sure wish they could have made this 16:9 somehow.
I would agree with you in part with the PQ issues, however I felt the light show was great and the way it looked from afar and up close was fine. For me though, it was all about the music, I just leaned back and closed my eyes.:)

As stupid as it may sound, the 4:3 picture ratio is the thing that's holding me back from picking this one up.
I thought the same thing, but my DVD player automatically formats it to 16:9, and I don't see any distortion. I've never been impressed with concert DVD video image quality, but I enjoyed the performances on this one.
BTW, why are all you guys paying $25 for this thing? It's $14.39 at Costco.

As good as this concert is, the Delicate Sound of Thunder one is much better from a performance and light show stand point. And if I remember correctly, my laser disc was letterboxed too. The girls on this one were not even close to being as good as the girls on Thunder or as cute.

I do agree about the girls! As for overall show, lights, performance, etc., well, I guess to each his own. I saw the pulse show several times but never got to see the DSOT in person. I love both shows - I hope they will release DSOT on DVD too...

I got this DVD the other day and I really enjoy it. I don't care that it is in 4:3 the sound is awesome. The higher bit rate DD works on my system.

Yesturday a friend was over and he's sitting in the sweet spot. I asked if he cared for Pink Floyd and he said yes. I fired up the encore and cranked it up. It blew him away. At one point he says "Man a Pink Floyd concert must be the best place on earth". When it ended he says "I guess when you see Pink Floyd you really see a show."

It was kind of funny.

After reading the comments in this forum, I decided to rent it from Netflix prior to purchasing the 2 disc set. I enjoyed the show very much - Pink Floyd is one of my favorites that for some weird combination of reasons, I've never been able to get to see live in concert. Clearly, this was my loss!

My Pioneer Elite Plasma automatically reformatted the video to 16x9 format, and it was quite good. Of course, you can really see the difference in video camera technology between the early 90's and now, since so many of the close of shots of the band make them appear somewhat washed out by the bright lights... but the overall video quality (the distant shots) were great. The music was simply fabulous, and for those without a good subwoofer set up - yes, you missed a lot of great low frequency information that significantly adds to the performance.

All in all, I must recommend it, and will probably purchase it very soon.

Don't feel bad.

Those of us who have caught their live show can't remember it either ;)

MajorLoser,

Ah, that's entirely a different matter, and one that I still wish I could claim.

"I don't care who you are, now that is funny"
Great concert and the sound on my "not so impressive" speakers was quite good.
I watched the Australian Pink Floyd concert on PBS about a month ago, and was thinking about purchasing it, but I bought Pulse and can see the "real" band.
I must admit, the Ausie band was damned close.
