PC-Ultra: Just looking for some reassurance...

Inputs are aligned vertically not horizontally. If you decided to use the R input and thought it was parallel to the left, you're in the L output. Just a thought...I made that mistake, but I figured it out very quickly. I'm sure you would too.

I returned from vacation today to find my new sub dutifully waiting for me at the door when I got home. I plugged it in, hooked it up to the receiver and turned it on - and beautiful, wonderful bass blessed my ears! At least I know I was right about the dud now - I didn't change a single setting between packing the old one and turning the new sub on.

What a beauty it is! As soon as I knew it was working I plugged a port to tune it to the 12Hz setting, calibrated it to +3dB relative to my fronts and demoed the chopper scene from the Matrix (the one where Trinity blows the crap out of the side of a building... and several Agents). WOW! Every bullet had a tight, crisp blow-your-pants-off sound that can only be experienced with a quality sub such as this one. I went up to 95dB and the sub just laughed as I wussed out and turned it down quickly before my neighbors started pounding on my door (one of the downsides of living in a high rise apt building ... at 95dB I could feel every bullet hit me in the chest). Wonder how high it could actually go.... anyway, its as beautiful a piece of sonic a$$ as anyone could wish for.

Props to SVS for getting the new one out so quick, and being very helpful (and providing round trip shipping for the dud and replacement)! Thanks SVS!

Those of you getting the new Ultra... hope you're also buying "earthquake" insurance. You'll need it.

Considering I was on vacation for most of the last two weeks, it wasn't that bad. And well worth the wait!

Maybe I should have said a trusted and reputable dealer. My dealer has been in business for over 60 years and they are awesome and the customer is treated very well. When I had an issue with one of my Digms; they had me go up to the store 2 or 3 hours after they had closed for the day and the owner himself pulled up, unlocked the doors, went in the back and got two new ones and loaded them into my car. I will pay for this kind of service.

That was one reason I bought my current sub from a local dealer...but it didn't work out how I hoped. The sub was defective in that it had a loud internal rattle even when playing softly. The dealer's first (second, third, ...) response was that they all do that. Long story short, they gave me the run-around for two years and then outright refused to do anything about it because they claimed that it was not defective. I finally realized that I could just contact the manufacturer, who immediately acknowledged that they had produced a lot of defective subs and that my serial number was part of that lot. Unfortunately, the manufacturer's response was to send me a B-Stock sub because it had been so long since I bought mine...but that one was from the same defective lot! In the end, I got a brand new working sub, but it took three years and a lot of hassles (including lugging a sub over 40 miles...twice...as opposed to the three blocks to the closest mailing center).

Call me an optimist, but I'm confident that SVS will be quicker than that. Good luck with getting your sub up and running!

That definitely is service. However, SVS shipped the new sub as soon as they determined that the old one was busted. For being a mail-order business, I think they have optimial service. Of course, it is definitely faster to go with the store down the street, but then you wouldn't be getting an SVS... ;)

I agree... its always nice to hear that they are right on target as soon as they determine the problem...

Its stories like this that really make companies like SVS customer service stand out, I know its the right thing for a business to be doing, but in this day and age there are so many companies that just drop the ball...

Dont get me wrong; I am not saying anything negative about SVS. I have spoken to Ron a few times and he is great and they have a great reputation for CS and in my opinion; you cant beat their subs dollar for dollar. I am just very inpatient and have to have my stuff "right now" so I am willing to pay more for it.

Well I ordered my sub from SVS and within 3 days it was at my house...
Im glad I was close. My second sub was in town in 2 days, sitting at the loading dock in Milwaukee and they were going to wait until Monday to deliver... Ahhh I don't think so... I went down to the shipping dock, and the guys helped me load it into my Tahoe... :) They were very happy to do so...

So I didn't consider that anything like waiting... My paradigms took longer to get then my subs... :)
To me that was instant gratification, but again, I live pretty close...

I could never wait 2 or 3 days. That's like buying a sandwhich because I am hungry, paying for it and then getting it 3 days later...

or like buying your speakers and waiting several weeks before you can listen to them...

or like preordering your sub and waiting 3 months before it will get here...

I don't think that I can fully express the anticipation that I'm starting to feel over getting an e-mail that my PC-Ultra has been shipped. I'm sure that it's at least a week off, but it's getting close! I noticed a week or so ago that the PB13-Ultra ship date got moved to mid-August. I feel for all of you that have one on order. I remember when the PC-Ultra said July...and then it became late July. I sure hope that it doesn't move to August, too!

Thanks, guys! I expect to have pictures posted by Monday evening, so no worries.

A note to anyone thinking about getting one of these...I can only imagine that the preorder pricing is about to go away.
