It's about 45 miles to the nearest theater for me. I will make the trip for the new Avatar movie on a big screen and apparently the theater now has in-seat haptics too, like my couch. I really don't want to be closer to that much "civilization" otoh :)

One of my good friends owns an independent theater and her biggest cost is from the studios. She sells food for just enough to break even as to keep the theater open. She couldn't sell food for more or she would be forced to close it.
Well stated, typos in my comment sorry about that Sir. Every now and then I would go to watch at a movie theater, I miss the big screen. The really huge screen! I'm a big Sci-Fi movie fan. Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Mad Max movies etc.

Blade Runner 2049 was the last one I went watch when it first came out. Yep I'd pay 20 bucks for bucket of popcorn big soda and two boxes of Nestle's Snow caps. Loved going by myself, sit way in the back usually try to find the back seats the ones almost against the back wall sit in the middle.

Sure, You had the usual things, people talking, couples making out. The thing that pissed me off cell phones lighting up! Cellphone's get really bright.
