I'm wondering what the ideal speaker stand height would be for my 4 Paradigm Titan speakers. My ear height from the ground is about 40.5 inches. The grills on the speakers don't come off so I can't tell where the tweeter is. I'm guessing it is around 10 inches. The speaker height is 13 inches. Would I be better off to get 31 inch stands or 24?
Make a plan on paper with all the calculations from the post, the bottom plate, the top plate and the spikes. Add them all up. The good reference point for your ears, is right between the tweeter and midrange driver (as a general use). If you like your sound clearer and brighter, raise the stands. If you like the sound smoother and warmer, lower your stands.
Ear height can be within a few inches; it doesn't need to be exact. If you are going to be off, be higher not lower, especially if you have a hard floor surface.
Very true about the floor. (Mine is fully carpeted, wall to wall.)
I will add that for your front main speakers, you can go a bit lower (just an inch or so); you can always tilt the stands a bit too. (My two front mains are at 33" from the floor to the tweeter, and my center channel is at 20" from the floor to it's tweeter, but tilted right straight to my ears).
And for the side surrounds, then you can go a bit higher (mine are at 48" from the floor to the tweeters).
And for the rear surrounds, even a bit higher is fine (mine are at 66" from the floor to the tweeters).
I try so many different heights before, that I get very sick and tired (about for over 20 years or so)

; so, now that I just gave up, I just live with this last setup, for about a month now.
Well, what can I say, I'm always in motion. I sure hope so; the day I'll stop, that'll be the day I die.
At the end, it's not the final result that counts, it's how you get there,
and knowing how to get out.
