My brother, a retired locomotive engineer encountered two fatalities in his 36 year career. Sadly MSM rarely comments on the helpless individuals in the cab of a locomotive, since they are the last to see the victims alive.....

The video where the lady gets hit crossing they I dunno what we're thinking but made the poor conductor reenact the scene right after the incident. He was so shook he ended up leaving. The family tried suing the railroad but it was found the crossing gate was down and the horn blaring. Those school bus crossings kinda sad they figured out they needed to reduce routes involved in them. No poop.

The school bus video I dunno if you watched that one but you might be on the tracks and waiting for the green light like it were a timing mechanism. As an ex-school bus driver I found that crazy.

You NEVER, repeat NEVER stop your vehicle on a grade crossing. If traffic is backed up, for whatever reason, you stop short. This is taught to every driver, commercial or other ..........

My bad. She had the bus' tail three feet on the track. The kids were yelling about it and she got distracted when the light turned green and didn't see it.

Hey @Mikado463, I believe you have mentioned visiting Halifax before. If so, I assume you would have taken the train. If you were ever curious about the history behind the rail cut through Halifax to the south end, a local historian wrote a book about it. It was an interesting read.

Interesting vid on the various gauges of model railroads, I've modeled in G, O, S and HO over the years.

GO-NAD, yes I've been to Halifax several times, always via the overnight train from Montreal. Up until '94 there used to be 2 routes , one through NB and the other along Moosehead lake in Maine. The book looks interesting, I'll have to seek it out :)
