My sub12 isn't powering up using the 12 volt trigger or the auto switch Sometimes it will make a popping sound then loose power This sub has been working perfectly fine for the last 6 years I took it to my dealer and the amp looks good no signs of a problem it's getting constant power to the amp but still doesn't power up I also have contacted Paradigm for help to trouble shoot the problem I'm using a Denon 4311ci rceiver If anyone has any ideas for the problem I would be very grateful thanks

Does it stay on if you don't use the 12V trigger or Auto power feature?

No it doesn't stay on it sometimes makes a popping sound then loose power and sometimes it just doesn't nothing I emailed Paradigm and they it sounds like the amp is faulting and I Would have to send it in to see if they are able repair it

Contrary to what the dealer told you the amp is fried.

It is probably not worth the cost of repair. If you really like it and are handy, you could either modify it to take an off the shelf Bash plate amp, or buy and amp and convert it to a passive sub.

If that is not what you want to do, then I would recommend an upgrade to a better sub.

I would say that sub amps are the most unreliable devices on the AV scene, and some are frankly down right dangerous.

Personally I would never leave home with one of those subs plugged into the mains. I would pull the plug every time before going out of the door.

That's news to me. I own two subs, Rythmik which is 2 years old and a PSB which is ten+ years. The only time they get unplugged is with the rest of the system when there is a risk of thunderstorms or when I'm away on vacation because of possible risks of thunderstorms.

For Paradigm, basically they will ask you to take out the amp from your sub and send it in. Expect to pay anywhere around 175-350 to fix. I base this on my experience with my seismic 12. BTW I would never buy a Paradigm Subwoofer again based on my bad luck with mine. Fortunately it was under warranty the second time I sent it back.
