Paradigm pw-2200 or Paradigm PS-1000

I am wondering what sub to get? The pw-2200 is the new one with the bigger 400 rms amp for 550, the ps-1000 is the v.2. for $275 I listen to about half and half music and movies. My room is about 20 x 20. Right now i have the paradigm pdr-12, i really like it but it bottoms out every so often. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is the pw2200 worth the extra 200 bucks.

The PW-2200 is definitely a better sub than the PS-1000. Any of the two will be an improvement over the PDR-12.

I helped put a friends hometheater together a few years ago and audioned the PS-1200 to the PDR-12. Although the PDR-12 was a good value the PS-1200 was much better sub. PW-2200 is slightly better than the PS1200.

ENERGY makes a potent lil 8" sub in 500 price range. one youll love and neibors and everyone else will hate. I have the lil bigger bro, I swear by energy's speaksers too. I've always loved em. I have a new pair and a pair thats about 10 or 11 years old but there not labeled energy, there labeled sound dynamics (same manufacturer). great solid speaker makers. there also made here in canada :D

I dont know anything about the HSU subs, but the SVS i do know

The SVS PB-10NSD is a great sub at less than $500.

I thought the paradigm PW-2200 was much more than $550, not unless this is an older version. The current PW-2200 has a 500W RMS/ 1500 W peak amp. I think u might have been looking at a previous version.

If $550 is for a used Paradigm then i would rather have a brand new SVS PB-10NSD.

But when comparing the two new, i would lean towards the Paradigm PW-2200. Bigger amp, wood cabinet vs vinyl, 12 inch vs 10 inch, deeper extention, heavier sub too.

there are a few better ways for him to spend that $500, and while im not saying an 8" sub cant sound good, i wouldnt go as far as saying potent......

Thanks for welcoming me guys!!!
I dont know anything about the svs pb10??? In my week or two of looking at the paradigm subs i have seen alot of people talking about them. They really are a better sub than the pw-2200? Why so?
I am not apposed to looking at a different sub. The only reason why i am looking at paradigm's are to match my setup. Monitor 7's, cc-370, and
adp370's.
The pw-2200 that i am looking at is cosmetically flawless. One year old, at a price of $500, however i have to drive 2 hours each way to pick it up. The one i am looking at is a v.3 pw-2200, 400 rms 1500 peak.
Do you still think the svs would be a better sub?
Thanks again guys!

yep, and matching the sub to the rest of your speakers is not required by any means. If your looking for proformance, id go with the reccomendations
Bang for the buck is out there;) id look at the av123 mfw15 @599,they are slow shipping right now, but in the price range the weight is worth it
look at this list http://www.tweakcityaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11 and check the thread i already linked.

I still think a paradigm pw-2200 is better than a SVS PB-10NSD. Cosmetically the paradigm wood grain finish will match your speakers too, especially if its out in the open.

This specific paradigm sub will out perform that particular SVS sub. Just my opinion.
ok then we can change will to may, if its an opinion;) i think down to about 25hz they are pretty close, id have to give the in room extension response to the svs.

Alright. Thanks so much for your guys help glad i joined. This wont be the end i will still be all over this board.

Here it is.
You guys decide for me, most posts wins.

I have a paradigm pw-2200 400rms 1500 peak that i have heard and do like and i matches all my stuff. For 500 bucks.

Then I have found a used HSU vtf-3 mk2 for 500 also. I have never heard it or even heard of it until today. Thanks Guys. It does get great reviews...

Keep in mind I have to drive 2 hours to get both of them. With the cost of gas should i bother?

I am dying for a new sub. The PDR 12 is just not getting it done. Which one do i go with???????

By the why i have a Paradigm pdr-12 for sale.

Thanks again.

I have been reading reviews on all three subs. pw-2200, svs and hsu. One question i have is build quality. alot of people are saying the svs and hsu dont have the quality (box, amp, and woofer) that that paradigm does.
If anyone can help me out. I want the best sub new or used for 500 bucks.
thanks guys!

I don't know which people said the HSU/SVS subs have inferior build quaility but I don't think that's the case. If the HSU and Paradigm are within close proximity of each other go listen to them both and decide for yourself which one is better.
