Pull the drivers out of the cabinet and test them to get an idea if it's the drivers or the crossover. At the time you can also confirm connections in the speaker are okay.

Those are not outside drivers. They are passive bass radiators, and have no electrical connection. So they are to tune the two bass radiators on the inside of them. They take the place of a tuning port. So it is a tuned enclosure. So you will not hear sound from them unless you drive them with a very low tone at tuning frequency. The -3db point is 60 Hz, so I suspect the tuning frequency is somewhere in that region.

So it is very unlikely you will hear anything if you put your ear to those outer ABRs. So please leave the speakers alone.

Outside drivers/passive radiators was a hint I missed, thought that just meant we were dealing with a MTM horizontal speaker....but now looking at the specifics of the xspeaker, like TLS says.
