They are passive bass radiators, and have no electrical connection. So they are to tune the two bass radiators on the inside of them. They take the place of a tuning port. So it is a tuned enclosure. So you will not hear sound from them unless you drive them with a very low tone at tuning frequency. The -3db point is 60 Hz, so I suspect the tuning frequency is somewhere in that region. So it is very unlikely you will hear anything if you put your ear to those outer ABRs. So please leave the speakers alone.
