I like lots of different types of music. Anything other than country I usually like. I wonder if a 10" sub would be a better choice for me vs. the 12" n- any thoughts???
I have a Paradigm PW-2100, the 10" Version of the PW-2200 and I love it. There are of course many differnt Sub's out there, some are better and some are not. All I can say is I love mine and it more than does the job for me HT and Music, I went with the 10" because I felt it may be slightly better suited to Music (faster ?) and as I'm 60% Music 40% HT....

There are no online Paradigm dealers. Paradigm does not allow online sales of their products from authorized dealers.

How do you think the PB-10 would sound with the Paradigm stuff. I was under the impression it was better to stay w/ all the same brand of speakers??

for online sale of paradigm,
check out www.hometheaterbythesea.com.

good prices (ex. PW2200 list $930, sale price $749), but likely no warranty? (I dont know)
I always thought speakers are something that really dont need a warranty. But who knows?

I've seen a number of places that list Paradigm online, but none that would ship. The ones I've seen all said you MUST pick them up in the store. most places are not allowed to display sale prices directly on their site either, for some legal reason. Another shop I deal with had a battle with a certain manufacturer over that very issue. If those guys do ship, and they get caught, Paradigm will pull the line from them. If they are acting as some kind of distributor, not an authorized dealer, then I'm certain you won't have a warranty. Usually not a problem, but every once in a while, it does come in handy. Their prices are decent, but nothing spectacular, especially when you factor in shipping on most orders.

There's also www.audiogon.com

Not with subs.

PS-1000 version 4

I have the newest incarnation of the PS-1000 (v4) and it is excellent with music. I also own a Mirage BPS-150 sub. In a non-scientific test involving a few beers, my best friend also brought over his Velodyne SPL-800 II sub and we swapped all three in and out and listened to jazz over digital cable, as well as Steely Dan's Everything Must Go in Dolby Digital. The verdict? All three subs sounded superb with music. My friend said he had expected the Paradigm to suck compared to his Velodyne (based on his earlier listening experiences with the PS-1000 version 2), but he admitted there was no meaningful difference that he could discern. I fully concurred and it made me appreciate my PS-1000 v4 all that much more. In movies there was a difference. The Paradigm shook the large room more than my BPS-150 or his little Velodyne.

UPDATE: I need to apologize as my sub is not a PS1200, but a PDR-10. I bought this set up a couple years ago and never really looked back. Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for their help and insight to my questions. I did make some changes to the crossover and sub placement and it does sound 100 times better now... So for now, I am ok.

My friend has a pair of the monitor 11's and they are the reason I got my 90P's. I thought they lacked bass, but from what it sounds like, he needs some real power to get the potential out of them. I love my 90P's...I was somewhat dissapointed though, before I upgraded my reciever and amplifier. Even though they are powered themselves, they love the extra power and it seems to help the bass dramatically.

Hello all - just tossing around an idea. I currently have the Monitor 7s but I was thinking about upgrading to the Monitor 11s. Has anyone heard both - if so, what are your thoughts???
Thanks!
If you haven't heard both, then my advice would be to not upgrade. Go listen then decide for yourself.

Also go have a listen to other brands. There are alot of good speakers in their price class so keep your options open.

No, not really. I was just creating an affinity with a fellow Wisconsonite and being "light."
