Paradigm Monitor 7 vs. B&W 684

So I was pretty set on buying a pair of Paradigm's Monitor 7 for around 650$. Then today I went to a local B&W dealer and listened to the (somewhat) new 684s. I could get those for around 900$.
Unfortunately, I can't listen to them side by side, so I can't make a direct comparison. They won't let me take them home to test them either, once I buy the B&W I have to keep them.
What do you guys think? Are the B&Ws worth 250$ more?
Thanks for any insight.

I listened to the monitor 5s and liked them. However, I heard a few bad stories about paradigm customer service which sent me to b&w. I just know with my luck, if I had a problem with the speakers, I'd be the next guy complaining here about not getting any service :)

I just picked up the 684s tonight (on sale for 800) and so far am having a blast :D

you may find PSB Image series to your likeing

Try and give them an audition if you can. Its worth auditioning as many speakers as you can.

Ok so if I go with the B&W, the website suggestes I do:
2x 684 for fronts
1x HTM62 as center
2x 685 as rears (What do you think about using the 686 instead, since i'm on a budget)
1x ASW610 sub

So should I go with the suggested sub or should I rather go and buy an HSU or some other brand that does great subs?

Thanks for all the input, it really helps. If I spend that much money (I know it's not that much compared to other people around here, but it's a lot for me), I really want to get a nice set-up. You guys are awesome!

I went with the 61 center, but it's up to you. I also got 685s for surrounds as the dealer pointed out how inefficient the 686s are (like 85 or 86db). I would not get a B&W sub. They are really nice sounding, but don't put out very low or loud bass. There are much better choices for the money.

I bought mine at a yearly sale from a local store. Most dealers will give you 5-8% off if you buy a package from them, so just ask around.
