Other Forums: Where else do you frequent?

Folks,

What other forums do you folks visit, what what do you visit them for?

I'll start:

Audioholics: main forum I frequent with a wonderful website full of great reviews and guides. Very data and fact driven. I think I get the best discussion and suggestions from the community here. It does seem to be mainly focused on the direct-to-consumer market for speakers and subs. A good mix of entry and mid-level minded folks.

AVS Forum: an incredible amount of folks with an incredible amount of information... but very difficult to sort through the off-topic and rumor to get to the real knowledge. I have concerns about the number of folks that appear to have agendas... and I believe there are a number of paid shills over there - people who are actually paid to do some guerilla marketing via posing a regular users in forums. A place that unless you spend all day posting or reading you will have difficulty forming your own identity within the forum or understanding the identities of the folks you are talking with. But, as an upside - a great place to look if you want to scan 1000 opinions on a popular product, or just 10 opinions on an obscure one!

I used to frequent AVS but I stopped after figuring that about 90% of my posts weren't getting a single reply.

The only forum, other than Audioholics, I frequent now is PCmech where I have been a long time member. It was PCmech that got me into forums in the first place.

Also AVS, Futuremark (used to be called MadOnion when I joined 5 years ago), HSU forum, 3DGPU, HomeTheaterSpot, JoBlo's Movie Club, Tom's Hardware, Abit forum, 3DGameMan forum, HardOCP, CDFreaks, VideoHelp, various Photography forums, IMDB forum, more various computer forums, more various audio forums, eBay forum, etc.......
Honestly I can't recall all the forums I am registered at (total around 30).
The ones I named I frequent the most, the ones that I have as various I go to about once every few months.

As a Canadian, I find the forums at Digital Home Canada invaluable. They cover not just home theatre stuff, but computer and internet stuff, video & photography, video games, digital & wireless phones, hi-def & digital televised programming, and lots more. I particularly like their Canadian Digital Deals section for the latest info on great deals in the shops and the Digital Home Buy and Sell section for private buying and selling.

I highly recommend it to any other Canadians on here.

I also used to frequent the forums at Secrets of Home Theatre and Fidelity, but there's next to nothing happening over there. They get maybe three new posts a day, so I pretty much ignore it now.

Those are the only three I check out (and the last one I check out maybe once every couple of weeks!).

homethearerforum, a few motorcycle forums, Headfi.org (the only "music" forum with any decent music discussion). I lurk at a few others, but most don't intrest me enough to register to post there.

A bit at AVS - but (some of) those people have issues.

Blu-Ray Forums and HDTVoice... but those are slow typically and not a lot of useful info.

I was into chess for a while, but I couldn't find anyone to play with. I might be willing to take you on, but I don't want to get obliterated (I'm sure you want close to an equal opponent). Is there some type of ranking system used for chess players so that a fair game can be found?

Anyway, back to the topic. I like to collect knives (functional and fantasy), and I've found that bladeforums.com is a great place for knife information or anything pertaining to or related to knives (i.e. types of steel or swords or knife making or whatever).

I have a few adult forums that I visit. Gosh darn, let's just be honest, I am a senior moderator at one of those forums.

I would mention the names of the forums, but there are children that read this forum.

I have visited many forums in the past and have joined quite a few (majorloser is in a lot of member lists). I just never really got into it nor did I post more than one or two entries.

I was suggested this site by Brian32672. This is the only site I post on or check. For the most part, the members here are more "down to earth". I don't go for the competitive "my stuff is better than your stuff" or "my stuff costs more" garbage that most forums turn in to.

Yeah, there is a rating system, You start out as basically an intermediate and go from there.
