Ordered a Denon 4400, now on to the front towers.

Word!
Though from what I here, G.E. does it pretty well. At least, better than that other company. ;)
Think Sandy Gross sold DT to Boston/Polk and then created GE. Later Denon/Marantz and Sound United got involved with Boston/Polk/DT.

Golden Ear is not part of Sound United.

I was curious about the similarities between them... and it seems like older DTs were a little better, perhaps.

Admittedly, I have been a little interested in Polk. Haven't been anywhere that has them though. Always been intrigued by the comment about them 'needing' a lot of power considering they have good efficiency and minimum power rating of 50w (up to 500w) for the RTiA9s. Likewise, the LSiM707s (20-300W... and a non-powered "subwoofer". Probably not my style, but curious none-the-less, perhaps downright nostalgic, considering the reputation I remember growing up. *shrugs

Are you going to build a second system? :)

literally. build. might be my goal. Hard to do caps holding that cat! ;) But my plan is to build some subs this summer for the greatroom. The lady is down for a moderate upgrade out there, but not for anything quite like the rig I built here. But that room is huge, if you recall, so depending on how things go, I might do kits. Or if I get some guidance from Dennis, I might try a true DIY. We'll see> ;)

I dontvlike stating it since me and The OP have been pming and we have some ofvthe same ones were interested in.

I've spent 2 days demoing AB at Bjorn's in there room and definetly can tell you it's the golden ear 5's all day for around that price point.

For my ears anyway for my tastes they kicked the st@$!t out of anything else I threw at them in there price range and under it.

Best highs imaging soundstage disappearing and midrange period. I know understand why many listeners have fallen in love with well designed AMT tweeters I'm now officially one of them.

The klipsch was a very solid 2nd place tho. Very very good speaker in that new reference lineup. I really was hoping they'd win out over the golden ears to be honest because in piano black finish those speakers look friggin sexy as hell. I really didn't want to have to fall in love with speakers in socks LOL
I’ll have to demo those. What music did you throw at them? Did you break out a few scenes from an action movie like Pacific Rim? :)

I spent about 2 or 3 hours with them. And my 2nd place choice.
I threw everything at them rock r&b rap classical jazz blues opera I have a play list I like to use that throws a lot at them. They just handled everything I threw at them. First time in a long time I've gotten lost with music. They could go louder and harder then the Klipsch without distorting. That impressed me.

Yeah they had a demo disc there that has a bunch of badass clips on it. Pacific Rim was one of them. Mad Max Fury Road Blade Runner 2049 Super8 Tron legacy Jurassic Park a couple other really good ones.

They did great on everything. Paired with subs I can't even imagine how good they'd be. But I'm looking forward to finding out

You doing a tower as a center again? Might be worth trying both ways.

I will always do towers as centers I never ever use a center channel period no matter how good they sound.

If I go with the Emotivas I'd use the C2 as my surrounds even in a theater room since I'm going to go all base towers Id find a way to mount them up as my heights but never in the living room

GE has those super sats and I'd in a dedicated theater room go all ge5's as my bass towers and the super sat 50's or 60's as my heights.

I believe in overkill on all speakers for all channels id rather have it and not need it vs needing it and not having it.

Plus I've heard enough sound tracks that use especially the surrounds with enough content Id prefer the baddest speaker I can get for each channel blade runner 2049 and that huge bass pulse that hits every speaker when hes walking up to that statue in Vegas is a perfect example.
