Ordered a Denon 4400, now on to the front towers.

My advice for home theater, is to audition with some familiar Blu-ray scenes to make sure the center channel is up for the job. About 70% of the sound is coming from the center speaker.

If you can’t find the right towers, you can always wait for JBL Studio 590 to go on sale again. Think they were half off not too long ago.

You guys pretty much witnessed my long game, blow by blow. It's pretty cool what can happen when you take a little bit of time to learn and experience. Even before I joined the forum back in September, I had been researching speakers for several months, and already had my buggy-@ssed Marantz. ;)
Hell, Danzilla, just since december, you've totally changed your tune on SVS for life! Which isn't bad. :) Quite the opposite, downright admirable that you opened yourself up!
What about you Snake? What does your next system look like to you, right now? :)

I dontvlike stating it since me and The OP have been pming and we have some ofvthe same ones were interested in.

I've spent 2 days demoing AB at Bjorn's in there room and definetly can tell you it's the golden ear 5's all day for around that price point.

For my ears anyway for my tastes they kicked the st@$!t out of anything else I threw at them in there price range and under it.

Best highs imaging soundstage disappearing and midrange period. I know understand why many listeners have fallen in love with well designed AMT tweeters I'm now officially one of them.

The klipsch was a very solid 2nd place tho. Very very good speaker in that new reference lineup. I really was hoping they'd win out over the golden ears to be honest because in piano black finish those speakers look friggin sexy as hell. I really didn't want to have to fall in love with speakers in socks LOL

You said it best more you experience the more you grow and change your ears I'm finally just now really figuring out my sound signature.

Although I can say I like the golden ear 5's I'm not a fan of the subwoofer in a tower approach. So I'm not interested in the 1 2 or 3's unless I was in a 2 channel only setup where I had no other options at that price point

golden ear 5's
Cool... always been curious, as I've said... I think there's a place down the peninsula that claims to carry G.E.s
But the 5s? that's surprising. did you get to hear the 2s or 3s?

Well I want to ride out my honeymoon with my Canton Vento 820.2 bookshelves in my bedroom 2.1 first but I would ideally pick out 2 other separate rooms with 2 other speaker brands than Canton for variety. One with bookshelves. One with towers. :)

There’s a chance the system with towers could be a Canton Vento system though. :)

I was wondering about that! based on you, and other peoples comments, they seem like good gear. Worthy of a Music-HT rig even. Get some good 5.1 audio working over that. ;)

I've played around with that on my rig a little. The Mini-Phils on surround duty are worthy speakers though I wish they dropped a little lower, but I can't wait to cycle them around when the Phil-3s come in. The BMRs have been amazing to listen too.

Ya that’s a contender. Also very interested in Focal and others. Not sure I could stomach a 6 or 8 mo build wait from Salk etc. :)

No doubt. Its tough waiting. And being patient with Dennis sidelined, too. More worried for his health and well being than for the Phil-3s, but still... Really wish I had those bad boys in place!

Been seeing a lot of good chatter for the Focals stepped up from the Aria... is that the Kanta, then the Sopra? And they look rad, too!

Not that the Aria's are bad speakers, but there are so many intro speakers from good companies that seem to have 1 too many drawbacks. ;) Don't even get me started on everybody that brags about owning B&W 600 series towers but then comments that they aren't happy with the sound and want to add an amp to improve them... :p I think I've seen 5 different posts like that in 2019 so far! In fact one post commented that he found the 700s to be lacking a good LF presence, too.

Anyway... That's exactly what I mean though... getting comfortable with looking beyond that base level. You don't need to mortgage the house or max out a card for good gear if you take a little bit of time to get there!

Yeah I'm not a big fan of towers with powered subwoofers for several reasons. Since I want to go eventually all 7 bed levels with towers the 5's strike a good balance. Placement flexible lightweight easy to move compared to others and great silky smooth highs velvety warm midrange they are smooth great soundstage imaging and they sounded great on music and movies. They also had that knack of dissapearing when listening getting out of the way of the music

Since I'd be pairing them with the PB 4000's no need to have crazy bass heavy towers anyway.
