Fair point.

By the way, the Mc452 is a SS amp
I think somehow my mind translated "light bulb" into "tube" in your first post. Oops.

Well you'll get even less support and likely even fewer replies from anyone here who owns that amp, or your claims. Like we've been saying, we put the large bulk of the budget into the best speakers we can find, not amplification. Now many of us do have powerful separate amps, but no delusions of one sounding better than another. Aren't all amps built with the same goal of transparency, neutrality and accuracy? Hearing any deviation from that goal would seem to me to indicate distortion and non neutrality.

I don't think you could hear all those differences you claim if you tried to in an actual DBT with level matching and instant switching. Did you read the article I posted earlier?

I used to have an all Mac setup including the Mc452 and a C2500 running BW 802D2. You can't go wrong with the 452. It's a beast. Sounded great. Did it sound better than other good quality amps? Probably not. Did it look better and was the fit and finish and pride of ownership better? Hell yes. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Their resale value is definitely one of the best out there.

Yeah, McIntosh components are so pretty to me that I would definitely get all McIntosh if I were so rich that I didn't even have to THINK about money. :D

If I have to think about money, that's a different story. :D
