Hello,

I am interested in purchasing an LG 65UB9200. I was wondering if anybody has any pros/cons on this unit.

How would this LG compare to a Sony XBR950 4k tv?

This is going to replace an older Samsung TV. I am actually waiting on Sony XBR950 4ks to drop their price. I have 3 samsungs at the moment all of which suck one way or another. 2 of them replaced older Sony XBRs which I had for about 8-9 years until one of them had its board jacked up because of a power surge and other one was simply old. I also have 6 samsung lcd monitors which 2 of them developed a really annoying flickering effect. I feel like samsung dumps a lot of products into market without properly doing Q/A. Anyway, I decided to stay away from samsung as a brand in general.

So, I am just curious how this LG stacks up against the competition. At $2300, I feel like it is bargain. My 65 samsung LED 1080p 3d was purchased at this price.

Thanks in advance.

Could you please elaborate a little on (a)?

Separate issue, but how do I change my signature? So, much crap in there.

I have found there to be a pretty sizable bias against lg on this forum. There are a few users that seem to have a bad experience with them. I however am not amongst those and i have no problem recommending lg.
You will also find a lot of love for Samsung on this board, but, just from reading your post, I dont think you would be amongst those giving Samsung love. As far as 4k goes, I personally dont have any experience with it but most published stuff i read says you don't notice a difference until you go over 55". So at 65" you should be good. Being am early adapter however you are still going to find a lack of content for a while... if that doesn't bother you then go for it.

LG and in particular LG TVs have often had reliability problems.

If you have LG and haven't had a problem, then great! Let's hope for you that it stays that way.

Personally, I haven't had a problem with LG because I have steered clear from learning the lessons from other peoples bad experiences.

My running joke.....LG = Low Grade :D

Based on a simple google search
"LG TV reliability ratings"
I found this
http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/article/409931/who_makes_most_reliable_tv_/
and this
http://www.jdpower.com/press-releases/2013-high-definition-television-hdtv-satisfaction-report
just on the first page that could counter the "Low Grade", or "reliability problems comment.
when I googled LG tv reliability problems I found this
http://blogs.which.co.uk/technology/tvs/how-long-will-your-tv-last-we-can-tell-you/
If you look at this site it would posibly indicate a problem with LG tv's
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/lg-tv.html
However when you click the "compare companies" link you will notice no company has more then 2 stars, to include Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Vizio...
None of these studies would indicate LG having any sort of reliability problems...
You are free to do the same search I did and post contradictory results if you want, but I couldn't find any myself.
While I cant discount the bad experiences that people of this forum may have had, it really doesn't seem to be the norm as far as LG tv's are concerned.

$4K for 4K to have a brand new idea that's really not ready for prime time as of yet, best to pass on it for now.
search through various reviews for led/lcd panels and think about some of the last plasma tv's floating around as nothing really measures up to the PQ .

I passed on 4K but did not pass on the cheaper LG 65LB5200 for $699.

Will be hooking up this weekend or next week for sure.
