Onkyo 805 OSD with COMPONENT OUT

Hey guys, I just got the ONKYO 805 and I'm having problems with it not showing the volume levels on the TV. I am using all COMPONENT input sources and I have COMPONENT for Monitor out. I know the OSD shows for HDMI but I thought it also showed for COMPONENT. I have "immediate display" set to on and HDMI output to "NO". Can anyone help out? Thanks in advance!:)

Hmm interesting. You don't by chance have your TV on stretch-o-vision and it is just cutting off the bottom of the image?

The immediate display setting is what controls the volume overlay so if you have that set to on then it should work. I'll check the manual and see if I can find anything.

Immediate Display
This setting determines whether operation details are
displayed onscreen immediately after an AV receiver
function is used.
On: Displayed (default).
Off: Not displayed.
Even if On is selected, operation details are not output if
the input source is connected to a COMPONENT
VIDEO IN or HDMI IN.
For optimal video performance, THX recommends that
Immediate Display be turned off.
Only composite or SVideo sources will allow the display to overlay but not Component or HDMI.

adk,

Thank you so much for that information. I guess I won't have volume level over component or HDMI since I have COMPONENT sources. I thought I read somewhere that HDMI outputs the volume level, but I guess that's only if composite or svideo is used. Anyway, thank you once again.

That sucks.....

Cough, cough....denon...cough....
I take it that Denon receivers are able to do this? I got such a good deal on the ONKYO 805 that I couldn't pass it up. It was super cheap compared to all the features of this receiver (minus the lack of OSD).
