Right now is one of my "desert island" disks, Uncle Tupelo's first in 1990, "No Depression", a collection of loud, distorted, rootsy heartland rockers, "County Punk" as it was called. These guys made a few excellent albums and then split. Jeff Tweedy and Jay Ferrar both formed their own bands, Wilco and Son Volt, both of which have also done great stuff and are also favorites of mine. No Depression is where it started. This cd makes use of simple tunes, sparse arrangments and has great emotional depth.
