He played this song at his concert in Prague last year and it was ...... absolute magic, no..... magic is an understatement. it was even better than that.....

I'm also listening to Tom, Mule Variations. Another great album by a guy who ought to be declared to be a national treasure. How can any one person come up with so many genuinely eccentric, original songs that sound like nobody else and keep doing it for so long. The trouble with making him a treasure is that he would find some way of making the whole thing into another off-center tale of an outsider.

All this Waits talk inspired me to throw on some Rickie Lee Jones-Horses. Those 2 were an item for years and years and they are both amazing songwriters....

Badfinger - No Dice (an awesome album from 1970 that contains the original version of "Without You" - both Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey made it famous, Badfinger did it better, much better IMO).

Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney (on Pandora Radio) :)
A great "bootleg" cover of this song being sung by Ann Wilson (Heart). Also playing on the song - Todd Rundgren - rhythm guitar; John Entwistle (the Who) - bass guitar; Alan Parsons - organ; David Pack (Ambrosia) - lead guitar; John Beck (It Bites, Unicorn Jones, Kino) - tamborine, vocals; Godfrey Townsend (John Entwistle Band, Alan Parsons Live Project) - piano, vocals.

Raising Sand with Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. This album is universally praised and was a big seller, but I am somewhere between really liking it and putting it in the Cringe thread. I think I like it mainly because of the "odd" sound that came with T Bone Burnett's production. I could hear his production values before I knew he was involved. It grew on me after a couple listens.

Firewire-Larry Carlton. Super good, raw guitar work by him.

After buying and loving "Freedom" then "Ragged Glory", I bought the vhs "Weld". It totally rocks! I've been waiting forever for the dvd to no avail. Now I'll be waiting forever for it on blu ray. I've checked Amazon repeatedly over the years but it never appears. Does anyone know if "Weld" will ever be released on disc?

I like that album, except the sound quality is not that great.
