Seriously, I have no life.
Not when Clinton left office " Total federal employment, excluding postal employees and temporary census workers, had fallen to 1.87 million by the time Clinton left office in January 2001, from 2.31 million eight years earlier. " No surplus there.

Now !
" Before Trump returned to the White House in January, the federal workforce had grown to a record 2.42 million, excluding census and postal workers. Hiring rose sharply in the last year and a half of the Biden administration.

"Government employment also rose during Trump’s first four years in office, but by a relatively small 80,000 to a total of 2.28 million."

So we can thank the Democrats and Republican Presidents after Clinton and also Trump for adding to the govt workforce if that is what you are getting at.
In response to job cutting, I am just reading article in local paper, by AP journalist Nicholas Riccardi, talking about Clints job cuttings.
Yes, his administration did do that, not over the first week but through the whole of the administration, carefully understanding and analyzing the process. And this was bipartisan effort and through legislation. They cut 400,00 jobs.
However, this process, cutting those workers, didn't save any money as the government had to hire contractors to do the work.
So, what is the end goal here, today? Musk will be the contractor.

A nice read on all things Clinton and his fights with Congress

John Cleese and how the English regard Trump.

"My American friends are asking me about President Trump's observation that the British ‘like him’

I regret this is quite unfounded

The explanation for this canard is that Trump is pronoid

Pronoid is the opposite of paranoid. A paranoid person thinks, without any basis in reality, that everybody is out to get them. A pronoid person is someone who thinks, without any
basis in reality, that everybody likes them

The fact is that the British loathe Donald Trump

This is because he is the polar opposite of a ‘ Gentleman ‘, who has qualities the British admire. A fine example is Gareth Southgate

To the British, a ‘ Gentleman ' is a man who is modest, well-mannered, self deprecating, quietly intelligent, considerate of other people’s feeling, and well-informed.

He is not vulgar, inflated, vain, boastful, noisily ignorant, sleazy and common as muck

I hope this clears up any confusion."

It's refreshing to hear from people with principles and spines:

>>>WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 20 civil service employees resigned Tuesday from billionaire Trump adviser Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, saying they were refusing to use their technical expertise to “dismantle critical public services.”

“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter, a copy of which was obtained by The Associated Press. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.” . . .

All previously held senior roles at such tech companies as Google and Amazon and wrote in their resignation letter that they joined the government out of a sense of duty to public service.

Trump’s empowerment of Musk upended that. The day after Trump’s inauguration, the staffers wrote, they were called into a series of interviews that foreshadowed the secretive and disruptive work of Musk’s’ Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. . . .

We will not use our skills as technologists to compromise core government systems, jeopardize Americans’ sensitive data, or dismantle critical public services,” they wrote. “We will not lend our expertise to carry out or legitimize DOGE’s actions.” <<<

Guantanamo will not be getting 30,000 detainees after all. CX program.
Hire Blackwater and private army and air force with police powers at a cost of at least $25 billion to take care of deporting 12 million by 2026 election.
Really, private police powers?

Powerful Ukrainian business magnates, commonly referred to as oligarchs, exert significant influence over politics both directly and indirectly, including through financial support for political parties and lobbying for the appointment of loyalists to key institutional positions. However, individuals defined as oligarchs under a 2021 law have been prohibited from funding political parties.
The above is a quote that @Mr._Clark made from a link to Freedom House on Ukraine showing that they know about the oligarchs and their toxic threat to democracy. That is some something Americans should take note of as this quote from the conservative site The Bulwark shows.

>>>... [Republican] Senators who expressed rational concerns [about Trump nominations] early on folded at the critical moment. I have been told by a member of the U.S. Senate that any Republicans who suggested they might vote against Donald Trump’s nominees were threatened with a primary, paid for by Elon Musk. ...<<< (emphasis added)

It may not be a contract yet but... the seed is there.
Guantanamo is out to house them, military bases is a crazy idea. $100 billion is asked for in house to increase fund for deporting illegals. ICE just too slow, it appears for Pres T.
