Some of the funnier ones on Good Liars-

Where they ask a guy if Trump lost the '20 election? Wow, you're like the first person we've interviewed who have acknowledged this.

Guy says the Dems should tone down the rhetoric but is wearing a "Let's Go Brandon!" shirt.

On the televangelists, despite all their questionable ethics, says religion is a business and ya gotta make bread. Young person, but the way she said it with such energy and conviction.

Wasn't that miss named and should have been the bubonic plague? ;) :D :D :D
Yep that one happened too, my great grandmother lost a couple siblings and kids. I don’t follow global plagues as a hobby or profession, just other things in life I focus on. Anyway I don’t think there’s been anything in recorded history that the world (even just known world) reacted to like Covid. Pointing fingers at anyone over its handling is just silly. Sure we all disagree with how it was handled to one degree or another but thinking we have some moral superiority armchair warrioring it in hindsight is gross arrogance. It was a clusterfuk of epic proportions and everyone needs to get off their high horse

One thing I find ironic in all of this is that when countries turn to fascist governments, it usually happens during some economic desperation, but the US economy is doing OK on the whole. This has to be some kind of precedent. I haven't read any aftermath analysis, but I do think simple sexism has a role to play here: a lot of Americans simply didn't want a woman as president or at least deemed her less 'strong' (even though Trump is an addle-brained narcassist who is easily manipulated with flattery).

Another factor is that Harris' campaign was mainly pushing idealogy- that Trump was a fascist- but that is too heady for a lot of people who only care about what affects them directly. Most people are not students of history and are not well read in the consequences of competing 20th century political idealogies. They don't know what a fascist is exactly, and the word has been abused a lot in recent years and so has lost meaning in popular vocabulary.

Another partial explanation is that supposedly in the last few days, there was a flood in social media of misinformation like Harris was going to outlaw christianity, Harris was going to confiscate everyone's pickup trucks and guns, Harris was going to put a 200% increase on gasoline, etc. To educated people, those types of claims are absurd, but look at the reading comprehension of the average American. Many people are getting their news from Tictok and Twitter these days rather than credible news sources. I am guessing that had an impact.

Needless to say, everything is about to get worse. The Republican's didn't run on any serious policies but rather a nebulous anti-establishment caompaign. Some of the policies that Trump proposed would almost certainly results in a recession. The economic consequences of his proposed tarrifs would be able to do that on their own, even if he only did a quarter what he promised to do in that regard. But there is also the promise of firing a million civil servants; these aren't like firing minimum wage workers, they are much more highly compensated and thus have a greater economic impact as lost wages, and furthermore, some of the agencies that Trump's team is proposing to axe will have real economic fallout since they do serious work that keeps society afloat. And imagine what the economic fallout of withdrawing from NATO will do. That will also empower the BRICs group, which will come at the expense of the west and mainly from the USA. The USA has more to lose here than western Europe.

Should Trump keep any of these promises, we are in for a recession, and if he tried to keep all of them, that will be a very severe recession, and what's more, a recession where he has promised to cut out many of the social safety nets that can soften the blow for those who has lost income (wanna guess what that will do to the crime rate?) This all depends on how seriously he takes his campaign promises. The only good news is that his brain is so scrambled at this point he may not remember or care what he said he was going to do.
"The USA has more to lose here than western Europe."

More to lose? have you seen/read the news lately? With most of the Outsourcing that most industries do in this country including audio gear, speakers. GM, Ford, Chrysler. Let's not mention most/all televisions use to be manufactured in this country try buying a US made TV now. Does Nafta ring a bell? Shady J James? I get your comment most of it. Take this Analogy, (With a grain of salt) the middle finger was used by those who were going into Battlefields of Medieval times. Its meaning than, isn't what it is today. That middle finger has been Urbanized (slang) to show, F off at someone. The true meaning was to show the middle finger as to ward-off the evil that the Opposing army was getting ready to inflict on its women and children or them.

The USA stands better by bringing it All back for All of this Nations Citizens. Won't be easy, many are Suffering now, our political leaders have passed decisions poor ones. Isn't it always about the money. Everything is open to Interpretation. Especially Politically, parties? be one-two or many.

Problem is a) Asia makes better electronics and small cars, and b) we have a higher standard of living and therefore things cost more. Nothing wrong with bringing it back, but things will cost more too.

The fact is almost every country levies tariffs against the US and has since WWII. Threats of tariffs could end or curb that or make it a more level playing field. If we chose to we could quickly surpass Asia in quality and volume of electronics for example, energy as well and that we could do almost overnight.

I don’t know that I’m for or against these things, outsourcing and global supply chains serve to increase the economies of nations around the world. The US economy cannot continue to grow if the rest of the world is in poverty, enriching the world or at least creating an environment to do so benefits everyone. At the same time we have the world police and economic engine globally. BRICS is attempting to end the petrodollar which would change a lot. Anyway part of me likes the idea of America taking a back seat on the world stage, we would still have safety and security due to oceans and nukes and we could be completely self sustaining and thrive all while minding our own business. I have a feeling this is on its way at least in part, it’s going to be messy.

MAGA fanatics may just be useful tools for the anti globalists behind the MAGA movement.

Seems if you are producing a better product it's because your engineering is better. If say Toyota is more/the most reliable car, it's because of their engineering. Well quality of parts to build. You'd have to show somewhere in the pipeline the US are not getting a good enough deal on raw materials. Or that the raw materials we have or ship in are not of the same quality as Asia.

Also that Asia just might be kicking our ass in the workforce. Though I imagine that's not something we want to hear.

20 years in the auto industry so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Toyota manages supply chains and does longer vehicle model runs. Also they used to be exclusively made in Japan so they had much tighter control of manufacturing. Mazda since buying itself back from Ford is now the best QC manufacturer as everything is done in Japan. US auto manufacturers are just too big and bloated. Anyway the US could easily rival Japan if we chose to.

Seriously, I have no life.
We are the envy of the world. Inflation well under 3% right now. And how did it get so high during Covid?
If they say inflation is well under 3%, they're lying AND using the wrong metrics. Food and energy are becoming more expensive at a rate higher than that. poop, my car insurance has increased by 65% over the last two year and my record is spotless! My property tax is up, sales tax in the city and county of Milwaukee shot up by 2.4% on Jan 1, without ANY type of referendum- they just told us that it was going up.The last time they raised sales tax was around 2000 and people lost their damned minds over a .1% hike. Many places with high sales tax have lower property tax, but that's not the case here.

How did inflation rise so much during COVID? Supply and demand. The supply chains were disrupted, if not stopped and demand went up because people had so much time on their hands, many received free money. They didn't save, they just kept spending. Costs to manufacturers and distributors rose so prices necessarily rose.

Well, anti-abortion states where women dies because they are denied care in case of a miscarriage or other health issues. Or forced to carry a pregnancy to term even if raped. Anti-abortion states in general, really.

There is no state in America where emergency medical services are not available to pregnant woman and a pregnancy may be terminated if it is a threat to the mothers life. Stop spreading absolute lies.

Just saw a video where a girl buy a Honneycrisp (moneycrisp) apple from Whole Foods (whole paycheck. It was just over $7 for a single apple. Obviously you can get apples for less elsewhere but seven dollars for a flipping apple is insanity. I regularly go to the grocery store and get two bags of groceries for over $100. Prices are beyond mind-boggling right now and if anyone says inflation is only 3% they are absolutely lying.

Before telling me to "stop spreading absolute lies" you should educate yourself how that exception works out in practice.

So here is a Texan woman that died because the doctors delayed treating her miscarriage for 40 hours. The quote is a summarization of a ProPublica article. Read both.

>>>Just days after Texas banned abortion past six weeks of pregnancy, a woman died after doctors in the state delayed treating her miscarriage for 40 hours, ProPublica reported on Wednesday.

Experts told ProPublica that the September 2021 death of Josseli Barnica, a 28-year-old mother, was “preventable”. Barnica is the third woman reported by ProPublica to have died in recent years after being unable to access abortion legally or having her medical care delayed.

Although US abortion bans – which more than a dozen states have enacted in the two years since the supreme court overturned Roe v Wade – technically permit the procedure in medical emergencies, doctors across the country have said that the laws are worded so vaguely that they don’t know when they can legally intervene. Instead, many physicians say they have been forced to wait until a patient is on the brink of death – then attempt to pull them back. ... <<<
