Now that HD-DVD is dead, which blu-ray player to buy

I had been waiting for this to happen for a few months. Didnt have the budget to buy a dual player, I waited for Sony and Toshiba to figure it out between them. So blu-ray is the winner. Now I am confused which blu-ray player to buy. I am looking for one that is up to date, does not take forever to load DVDs, plays all features of the blu-ray DVDs. but most important for me is to make sure it supports Dolby HD and DTS HD. If someone can help me out with it, that would be great. i am currently looking at Samsung BD-P1400 or Sony BDP-S300/301.
Thanks.

right now the PS3 is your best bet. am in the same boat i am going to wait on the new
Panasonic dmp-bp50. its supports all the new hd audio codes, and has 5.1 analog outs.

While the PS3 is one of the nicest to buy right now, if you really want a stand alone I would guess that the real players will be coming out 3rd/4th quarter 08.

The 2.0 revision isn't really as big as the 1.1 revision was as the 2.0 adds ethernet and 1 GB of memory. Hardly a big cost item these days. I would expect that we will see sub $300 players from multiple manufacturers with a relability that is significantly raised by this holiday season.

Hardly consoling if you want to buy a stand alone player right now.

Yet, the PS3 will likely reign supreme until at least the Panny comes to market and probably will hold firm until this year is out as the fastest of the players and one of the best.

I agree that waiting is the best option. As an HD-A3 owner, and a casual movie watcher, I just hope Blockbuster online continues offering rentals on HD DVD through the end of the year. There are plenty of good titles to watch as long as they are available. If Blockbuster goes away, I'm screwed, because I really don't see the benefit of buying before the new players come out. And with the PS3 $299 price drop potentially happening later in the year....

I have the Panasonic DMP-BD10A...I does a good job of loading the disc (from turning the power on) fairly quickly but it take a little longer than my XA2 to play the disc whereas my XA2 takes long to load the disc but it plays quickly...Hopefully that made sense...
