You need to talk to Sheep about this but I think a flash would have helped. Were you using auto mode? Which setting did you have it on?

No flash and I have no idea about settings. I turned the camera on and turned flash to off.

Looks good!!!

And ya, the camera needs some tweaking. Your shutter speed is probably set too slow. With all that natural light, you can use a faster shutter speed and possibly your flash to get much better pics.

Well how the heck do I adjust the shutter speed on a digital camera? Is it called anything else?

I changed the ISO from auto to high. I have no idea what that means or does but tried it anyway. I could look at the owners manual but you know how I am about that.:D
MUCH better! What did you change, if anything? I have the same problem with photos sometimes. Thanks.

My pics always turn out grainy. I'm going to try that next time, too.

ISO is like setting film speed. Try it set to 200 if your using a tripod. If that doesn't work try 400. The higher the speed the grainier the pictures will be, but the more forgiving it will be for low light. Here's a tip: If you have an auto timer on your camera, set the ISO to 200, set up for your shot and depress the shutter release. Because your using the timer your hands will be completely off the camera when the shot is taken. Set your white balance to incandescent and turn off the flash unless you go handheld. Don't use auto, it sucks. set it A (aperture priority) or S (shutter priority) and change the settings until you get what your looking for. Unless your a pro it can take many shots. Go look at my photobucket page, click on a picture of your choice and I think it will tell you what all my settings were for that particular shot. It may not be right according to a pro, but if you get a picture that you like, who cares? Keep in mind I took my pictures with a Nikon D70 SLR with a Sigma Macro lens. So your results may vary. Just send me a PM if you need more help. There are other guys on here that can take way better pictures than me but that's just how I do it and I like the results.;)
