No sound when adjusting volume level? HELP

Just bought new Yamaha RX-V1. Tried to use with Polk Audio speakers, optic cable and regular (!) speaker wires. As soon as I changed volume level sound goes off??? After turning off/on it work but happen again. Why it happen and what should I do?

<font color='#0000FF'>Exactly at what volume setting is it shutting off. Check your speakers for any defective drivers. Did you buy your RXV1 used? If so there were certain batches of this model with defects which the factory rectified.</font>

<font color='#000000'>This receiver was new (open box only). It did not depend on volume level. I tried differ quiet levels (-55-65) and could not make more loudly. It happen every time &nbsp;when I changed
(+/-) the volume level.</font>

<font color='#0000FF'>If you have already checked your speaker wires and drivers and found out they are all running then take back the unit for warranty work.</font>
