Yeah if you look at the main page advocating Nitrogen, part of their scientific proof is because Costco is doing it lol. One of the things people don't realize is the "air" they are compressing in a regular air compressor to inflate your tires is roughly 80% N2 anyway.

It is almost as retarded as Oxygen bars...people actually PAY to inhale scented air? Those people really should be beaten with a big stick. I saw this at the mall by the way, and there were actually people doing it?!@#! WTF?

Please stop confusing me with facts.
My tires, even the "donut", is filled with nitrogen.
My speaker cables are pure "unobtanium" well known in the science field to conduct electricity far better than mere copper or even silver and gold. The shielding is pure woven mirken shaved from the scrotums of barely pubescent boys. Hah even spelled pubescent correctly...and without spell check.
My tires sing the song of nitrogen coolness while my speakers are the breathtaking sound of an angels voice.

And of course, there’s the ubiquitous $500 glorified clock radio:eek::

Ugh:mad:.
To the person who left me a “red chicklet” and this message; “actually the Bose radio sounds very good obviously you have not actually heard it - although a bit pricey”

Odd how you profess to know so much about me, even though I’m certain we’ve never met. The fact of the matter is, my father-in-law bought one a few years back. He offered me to bring some familiar CD’s over to give the unit a listen. I was curious to see what the deal with this unit was, so I looked forward to trying it out.

After listening to an array of music, my opinion stands - it’s over priced garbage marked to foolish people with money to throw away. My father-in-law then told me he would consult me before spending any more money on audio equipment.

I’ve received several red markers, and a lot of green ones. Well, I guess it’s to be expected when dealing with a lot of sensible people, and a few 11 year old girls who enjoy taking advantage of the phenomena known as “internet anonymity”.

Quite right - strange that the oxygen we need is not so prevalent in the air we breath.

When people tell me that they put nitrogen in their tires, I tell them that I use a special blend that is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% argon.

Sometimes they will ask me where I get it and what it costs... :D

Whenever I have to get 400 pounds of Fig Newtons, Costco is my shop. I love the scene in Idiocracy when they first walk into the Costco store.

My BIL was a service manager at a Dodge dealer... he was trying to push me to let him put Nitrogen in my tires. I just looked at him like he was crazy... he didn't understand.

Maybe it wasn't really oxygen.;)

There are quite a few very valid reasons to fill tires with pure nitrogen. In an everyday commuter car they dont make as much sense but the fact still remains. Aerospace and racing industry has been using nitrogen for years...

Pure oxygen saturates your blood which has many health benefits.

Free divers will breath pure oxygen to saturate their body to help them hold their breath for extreme amounts of time. It's also been used to aid in healing severe injuries.

Agreed, but the key is for the everyday consumer it is a rip off. It certainly isn't worth the money they charge for it. I would say that there is no practical benefit at all for an everyday commute. About the gas mileage increase, it could not be that much better, if you compare the molecular weights of O2 vs. N2 there is not a significant difference. O2 weighs about 32g/mol and N2 weighs about 28g/mol. The only thing that makes N2 a better source of a compressed gas is that it is inherently stable and won't really react with anything. If anyone is interested in the math of the weight difference for all four tires I suppose we could calculate it. However I do agree with your post about how it has benefits for aerospace and aviation in general.

Apparantly it's common knowledge among professional athletes that the oxygen chamber not only helps heal injuries faster, it also helps get rid of a hangover faster... ;)

I was going to bring up the $500 / ft Power cable but cwall99 beat me to it. I wanted to add. Don't these people realize that they are plugging this $3000 cable into a 50 cent outlet that is connect to 10 cent / ft cables, probably split a few times and smashed flat by romex staples running to their fuse box?
