Here's how I think you should connect things, now that I've looked a bit more. I also need to correct myself - the 6130 does have assignable digital audio inputs. My apologies.
- Connect the HD-DVD player HDMI output to the "DTV/CBL" HDMI input on the receiver
- Connect the optical digital audio output from the HD-DVD player to the "DTV/CBL" optical digital audio input on the receiver
- Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the HDMI input on your TV
To hear the audio in that case, you'll need to select the "DTV/CBL" source on the receiver.
If you want, you can use the "DVD" HDMI input, but you'll need to assign the optical digital audio input to the "DVD" source.
You shouldn't need to connect the component video cables. The HDMI connection should be all that you need.
Which HD-DVD player do you have? You might need to set up the audio output on that player. I can see if I can find the owner's manual if you'll let me know the model.
