Newbie needing help with Home Theatre

Hi all!

I stumbled upon this site when I was researching Bose speakers and read about them not being great for the price. Obviosuly I signed up

I was looking at the Sonos playbar and Bose 300. It's about my budget tooapprox. $1000 CAD.

Any recommendations on how I could go about configuring this? Any help would be appreciated.

The first question, why did you chose Bose? Brand recognition or you want something small and unobtrusive?

Just a hint, small speakers = small, compressed sound. No way to get around physics. A decent mid sized bookshelf/sub system will do wonders.

Is you entire budget $1000 cad fo everything? Do you have a receiver?

A good 3.1 budget system will trample the bose sound bar.

Yea my entire budget would be 3.1.

I looked at Bose but also Sonos because I haven't strayed away from mainstream. I do not have a receiver but what would you suggest for a 3.1?
