Jason-
From somebody that really fell in love with Definitive Technology speakers and was ready to drop $4000 on a setup, I'd really recommend looking at what other manufacturers have to offer. You didn't indicate which model you were looking at, nor did you say what your budget was, which is all a non-issue if you've got your heart set on the Def Techs.
My experience was this...the more I listened to the Definitives, the more I liked them. From model to model, room to room, CD to CD,...it just kept getting better. It wasn't until I listened to another manufacturer that I realized what the Definitives were missing...clarity, conciseness, detail, articulation, accuracy...What the Definitives DID have was the BIG SOUND, the massive soundstage and presence, the thunderous bass, the big fat enveloping sound that we're all looking for. The problem is that they sacrificed their precision for their presence. As a 2-channel stereo music fan, that really revealed itself while listening to other speakers.
My only advice is to listen to what other manufacturers have to offer before committing to the Definitives. They're certainly a well-made speaker and sound great in certain settings, but I'd advise seeing what else is out there before settling on the Definitives.
