WOW DIDNT REALIZE BOSE WAS HATED BY TRUE AUDIOPHILES. IM OPEN TO SUGGESTION AND HOPE MR. MAZE CAN MAKE A RECOMMENDATION FOR ME.
It's not a matter of hatred - they just make crappy over-priced systems that you can do far better with for your money. I don't believe I'm a true "audiophile" in my current stage, but I do like good sound and can understand the details and specifications of a product that help support my own listening preferences. Which in the end is what it comes down to - what you prefer.
As far as the Internet direct brands - let me tell you a story... I myself, probably went through ten different brands from stores like Best Buy and ended up disliking everything within my budget (even those from the Magnolia section). Finally, I bit the bullet and swapped everything back in and purchased the system I have now, which is an SVS - Internet Direct - without hearing a single note from any of these speakers.
So far, these are the best speakers I've ever owned, and they simple ROCK!!
At this point, I suppose it's been hammered enough that Bose is junk, and you have caught on.
That's a good step in the right direction. But don't think that you have to be limited by only what the big box stores carry.
SVS has incredibly fast shipping too. You could look into their higher line speakers, which I'm sure are even better than mine!
