Hello my name is Tom.

I bought a haouse 10 months ago and fixed up most of it myself and decided it was time to buy 2 new TVS (one for the living room and 1 for the bedroom) and an Audio surround sound system to go in my living room. Im usually a thinker when it comes to big purchases but strangely i ran out and bought a bunch of things without reading reviews ect...

This is what i bought, please tell me if i hopefully made good choices on quality and price.

PRCE $1999.99

FOR BEDROOM
BOUGHT YESTERDAY FROM BJS WHOLESALE CLUB
32 INCH SHARP LCD 720P 6MS RESPONSE TIME

Hello Tom

Welcome to Audioholics.

Tom you have made a very, very bad choice here. Please take it bake right now.

For $1000 bucks I will recommend a speaker system that will out perform that Bose system.

i HAD A FEELiING I PAID TOO MUCH FOR THE BOSE. AFTER ALL IT WAS MORE THAN THE DAMN TV. THE LAD IN BEST BUY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BEST BUT THEY HAD SOME BRAND KLIPSE I THINK THERE THAT SOUNDED GOOD TOO. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST. IS BOSE NOT AS GOOD AS THE GENERAL PUBLIC BELIEVES IT TO BE?

Do you have any restrictions as far as speakers go with size or placement?

What size room is this system going in? Any openings to other areas of the house? Decor concerns?

Read this link and discover why Bose isn't worth the money and therefore gets no love on this forum. :D

After you've realized the error in your ways, allow Mazer to recommend the system that will leave that Bose setup in the dust - and cost less! :)

It Is Not A Large House As Long Island Is So Damn Expensive For Real Estate So That Is Why I Bought The Bose Small Speakers For My Generally Small Living Room. It Is Not Tiny Though And I Could Fit Even Stand-up Speakers Or Anything Else. I Just Thought The Small Speakers Would Go Good With The Atmosphere.

Let's point out a very quick and easy system that is far better than the Bose...

http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Onkyo-HT-SR800-7-1-Channel-Home-Theater-System-HT-SR800/sem/rpsm/oid/177422/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

That's the Onkyo HT-S800 system - 7.1 setup, and a very reasonable value for the money you spend. ($460). If you have a bit more to spend, then come up with a real budget. That is, if you are willing to spend $2,000, as you have, then it is possible to spend it on some pretty solid gear - but I suggest you start a new thread, list your budget, and list what you need to buy.

I would pick up a PS3 (Blu-ray player) a basic A/V receiver, and a 5.1 audio setup for $2K, then pick up some cables from www.monoprice.com

YOU DIDN'T BUY CABLES FROM BEST BUY DID YOU?

I think you did fine by the first display. I'm not a huge fan of LCD displays, but Sharp is one of the better manufacturers and price clubs tend to have good prices.

Just get the Bose back ASAP and get your money back. You were lied to - flat out - if you were told it was the best, and I would point that out if they try to charge you a restocking fee of any sort. It is a long way from 'the best'.

Do you need wall mounted speakers? Will bookshelf speakers on stands work? Maybe floorstanding speakers? Are you open to purchasing from the internet?

The best is for you to go out and audition speakers yourself at boutique audio stores and find the sound that right for you. All speakers will sound different.

I WAS PLANNING ON WALL MOUNTS FOR THE REAR. THE FRONT SPEAKERS CAN BE MOUNTED OR STANDING AS I HAVE ROOM. IM NOT OPPOSED TO INTERNET SALE BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR BEFORE I BUY.

just a question is the Klipse (im sure im spelling it wrong) in best buy a bad system as well? they offered that to me with a black Yamaha receiver for around the same price.

What you hear in the store (especially a store like Best Buy) will not be what you hear at home.

Depends what Klipsch series. The Klipsch Reference series is IMO the best of the Klipsch lines. But Klipsch speakers are a love or hate issue because of the horn tweeter. You'll have to audition for yourself. You'll need to spend some time in front of these to see if listening fatigue sets in.

I appreciate all the feedback. after hearing this i think i will be stopping by best buy to make the return this weekend. I might consider the klipshe they offered to me originally as it sounded good for the few minutes i listened. almost bought it too but that damn BOSE damn was burned in my mind as being the best and swayed my purchase....
