New to home theaters. Need some help

With 5.1.2 or 5.1.4, can the rear surround speakers go on the rear wall, when the real wall is further 10 ft behind the couch, If the length of the room is 25 ft and the main seating area is 10-15 ft from the front wall in the center.

Yeah I agree with mtrycrafts. In 5.x.x surrounds should be at about 90-110°, so basically to the sides and a little behind.

Thanks a lot for the response. One last pain point.
My side walls are non-existent. One side is a open plan leading to Kitchen and other side are french doors leading to Patio.
I am not too excited about having stands behind by couch. How much of a compromise is having the rear surround speakers in the rear wall 10ft away. Is there any workaround (like additional speakers in ceiling).
